Hey all, I’m SWE and starting a new job soon.
Around 6-8 months ago, I started to experience severe wrist and forearm pain. Because of that, I switched to a split keyboard (keebio iris).
I love it, and it’s saved me from what I thought was a “career ender”. I also run Colemak DH and have found that layout helps a ton.
One issue though: I bought custom keycaps and key extenders to give it a key well feel. I find that it’s a lot more enjoyably to type on when I have them on, but I’m worried about bringing it too and from the office (I’m currently WFH, will be hybrid).
Any options that fit my needs? I was looking at Kinesis keyboards, but they’re too big to fit into a backpack. The Glove80 seems to have a similar problem, and I don’t think they have a wired option which I would prefer.
I was considering getting a corne, and I basically run my keyboard now as one because I don’t use the top row. But I’m not sure if that’s really the best option here.
I am open to the idea of an ortholinear traditional keyboard, but I haven’t really found one. The closest to it is probably the keychron Alice? Those look interesting anyway.
