Pharma interview but have kids

I had a great interview with two hiring managers for a pharma sales position yesterday for one of the biggest players in pharma. I am a RN trying to pivot to industry. Interview went well, I answered and gave good examples using STAR format. They were very pleasant and liked my clinical background and how it would translate into the new role. I also have a great referral from a director within the company. They told me to expect a decision in the next few weeks and to hear back from them.

I am a little nervous because they asked me about my hobbies. I disclosed that I had two little ones, and in hindsight I shouldn’t have but the conversation was flowing well and one of the HM even mentioned remembering those days when he had young ones as well. I don’t think they were necessarily turned off by it but it is driving me crazy. I realize now that it was probably a newbie mistake for industry but I always liked being honest and transparent with my future employers. No one has a crystal ball and time will tell but did I just screw my chances?

Pharma rep interview

I am a nurse trying to become a pharma rep and I have a panel interview with two hiring managers next week. I really do not want to miss this opportunity so I have been preparing STAR answers. I know they will ask me behavioral and situational questions, but what other types of questions will ask? Will they expect me to sell their drug to them? I am researching all the drugs in their portfolio just to be prepared but kind of at a loss as to what to expect in terms of how specific they will be in their clinical questions. Any insight/advice is appreciated.

Moving to different states

I am in the process of interviewing for a new jov in MD. My husband and I are thinking of moving our little family of 4 from PA to MD pending on the job offer. Obviously we will not move until we have an offer signed and an official start date, but my son will be starting kindergarten this fall. For parents who have moved with younger children in the middle of the school year to a different state, did your little ones miss any school and how was the transition?

We are trying to rent out our primary residence in PA for a couple of years while we rent in MD until we get our finances settled and we get used to our new jobs. My partner is going to go per diem at his current job in PA while he job searches in MD… if I get this job I am interviewing for, I will be the primary breadwinner of the family or at least temporarily and it will be a pay bump so we are thinking it will work. My partner may go back and forth from PA and MD (2.5 hour drive) to work for a few days (stay 2-3 nights in PA). It’s not an ideal situation but I know opportunities won’t come up like this if the stars align. Interested to hear if any other families have been in similar situations. Obviously don’t have the job yet but this move has been on our minds for a couple of years now so trying to plan ahead if this job pans out.

Heat rash or KP or something else?

We went to cancun last week and the last day we were there i used a different sunscreen that is usually used for the body on my kids’ face (regretting it so much right now). That evening, my toddler girl started to get what looked like a heat rash. My son developed it a little too but it never became raised bumps like she did. The thing is my daughter has KP on her lower cheeks prior to this, and now the bumps that are all over her face almost look like KP… i dont see keratin heads, they look like miliaria in some ways but in some angles i feel like they look like KP. i am not sure if these bumps is the remaining heat rash, a reaction to the sun/sunblock, or KP. It’s literally all over her eyelids, eyebrows, forehead, everywhere. I am just worried that the sunscreen somehow triggered a massive KP growth all over her face… i am taking her to her pediatrician tomorrow but asking for opinions.

I am leaning towards heat rash because she seems to be developing some on her chest and on her lower back now too.

RNs in device… licensure

For current RNs in device, do clinical specialist roles fulfill the required active hours of nursing required for BON renewals? I currently hold licenses in MD and PA. They are compact states, but MD does require active 1000 hours of active nursing practice to renew, so I was wondering if clinical specialist roles fulfill that requirement. How do you guys do it?

I am an RN trying to break into a clinical specialist role. I have not applied to roles that pertain to OR settings because I do not have specific OR experience. My background ranges from transplant, oncology, infusion and med surg… is it worth even applying to those roles given i dont have that experience? I have not bothered with the big companies like stryker and johnson & johnson because i am trying to break in. If it’s not, are there specific companies that would be recommended with my background in consideration?

I have always worked in a large university hospital system so i have always had good health insurance. I know for large companies like j&j the health insurance is good but for smaller to mid size companies are the health insurance benefits always bad? Someone said only 50% coverage and I am not sure if i am comfortable with that. Is it normal to expect some sort of 401k and match? I have been fortunate to always have excellent benefits.
