Products for severe KP that resists nearly every product?

Here's a list of what I've tried. None of them have worked.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid

CeraVe SA cream

Gold Bond Rough & Bumpy

Cetaphil Urea Cream

Amlactin

KP eraser scrub

Please help. I'm at a loss here. My arms are covered in them and feels like scales, they are like ingrown hairs.

Is mine really bad? Idk if this makes sense but what lighting I’m in makes the biggest difference

I use 10 urea lotion every day out of the shower I also fake tan which I have to exfoliate for. I’ll go weeks shaving then not I don’t notice it making a difference in it being worse tbh. I’m supposed to start laser hair removal for my arms and lower legs. Praying to god it will work.

Help please (skin concern)

Hi! Does anyone know how to get rid of this?
Before pregnancy, my skin was always clear and smooth. I never had any signs of KP, but during pregnancy it suddenly appeared, and postpartum it just kept getting worse. Now my entire upper arms are red, rough, and covered with bumps. It’s become so noticeable that I don’t even feel comfortable wearing short sleeves anymore.
I’ve tried so many things exfoliating, expensive lotions (like Remedy and urea creams), retinol, vitamin C, and even taking fish oil supplements but nothing seems to help. If anything, it feels like it’s gotten worse. It has also appeared on my legs, but thankfully it’s improved there a little. My arms, however, haven’t changed at all.
Has anyone experienced KP that started during or after pregnancy? If you found something that actually worked, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. I’m honestly starting to lose hope.
Thank you!

Tretinoin to the rescue

I have had KP for 25+ years on the back of my upper arms and above my wrists. I got breast cancer recently and during chemo it fully went away as my body was not reproducing skin cells. After chemo finished my KP was returning fast and after seeing my skin without it for a few months I didn’t relish its return. I had to stop using Tretinoin on my face whilst on chemo and restarted it recently and thought why not give it a go on my KP. It has worked so well. I just apply it whenever I remember (around every 3rd day) and within 2 weeks my KP is practically gone. I tried so many products over the years that I just wanted to share. I use 0.05% and use just a similar amount as I would use on my face. If you already use it on your face I highly recommend giving it a go on your arms!

Laser and KP?

Hi this is my first post, I'm 18, been dealing with KP my whole life, going to college soon hoping to minimize my KP. I notice when i shave my arms that the KP gets a bit better, does anyone have insight in how laser on arms and/or legs effects KP?

Can I ever get rid of the dots ?

I’ve finished 6 sessions of laser hair removal, 4 more to go - it was my last resort to getting rid of my strawberry legs but I’m thinking now that it’s never going away. I don’t notice much of a hair growth (don’t really need to shave much between sessions) but these dots just seem to persist eternally #whelp. Most of my thigh follicles look like it grows 3 strands of hair together and so they look so visible. Are they just ingrown hairs that’s never coming out or is it something else entirely that I can try to treat some other way ? I exfoliate regularly and use both glycolic lotions and urea creams, open to other suggestions! Thank you!

Update 2 “Finally, something seems to be working for me! 🥳”

First month here - https://www.reddit.com/r/keratosis/s/3XKsnHe7ql

It has been about 40 days since my initial post, so I wanted to update you guys again on how things have been going so far. It’s 40 rather than a month because I wanted to keep the pictures the same in terms of lighting etc so had to wait until I came back from visiting the fam. Anyways, I’m still on the same dosage, same product, and wanted to give it a longer term trial of up to 6 months, to see if it warranted increasing given how long it takes for the omega-3 to start working.

I did find at one point it flared and I realised that it was when I was taking the supplements with a low fat breakfast, so absorption was significantly reduced. Apparently it can reduce absorption by 50% if low fat and increase by 300% with a higher fat meal. So that is something I’m aiming to avoid happening again.

So what do you guys think? Should I increase the dose from 2 to 3 tablets now, or keep going to see if any further changes are possible on this current amount given it’s been 2 months? Lmk 🫶🏻🩷

I am 20 years of age and a female. I never had any changes with my diet lately but yesterday, I have noticed this small bumps pops up in my arms, some are in my chest and leg and it is very itchy. What could this be?

Is this even KP?

Help!! Been using tret and moisturizers for several months and no progress. Wondering if it’s fungal acne or something else entirely? KP runs in the family so always just assumed that’s what it was, but now I’m wondering! Very bumpy when caught at the right angle.

Not sure what to try next

My KP is so bad that it’s embarrassing. And especially with my legs, since my veins are so close to the surface, having the KP as well just makes them look awful.

I’ve tried CeraVe SA Smoothing cleanser and First Aid Beauty Bump Eraser, among other things (like scrubbing and moisturizing, etc). Nothing works or seems to make even the slightest impact. I really don’t know what to try next.

Does this look like KP?

I've had these bumps on my thighs, arms, and butt since I was around 16 or 17. It feels like every time one bump goes away another one appears next to it. They never itch and they never hurt unless I'm sitting in an awkward position and putting pressure on it. Moisturizing doesn't really seem to help, and Cetaphil's exfoliating rough & bumpy cream seems to help a little but I haven't been consistent with it

ten days using amlactin, naturium glycolic wash, and ordinary glycolic serum!

wow. i’ve tried to get rid of KP before but considered it a lost cause. but i wanted to fix it after losing weight to feel confident, and this has worked so well. it’s definitely the worst on my arms, so i took pics there. ten days of this has made all the difference. i use the first aid scrub maybe 2x a week? dry brushing was NOTTT for me. made it so bad and i got blood vessels!

[Routine Help] Bumps on face and neck

I took a low dose sixth month course of accutane and shortly after started getting these bumps on my face and neck. I’m not sure what to do about them. Currently I use just water and cetaphil daily oil free moisturizer. I’ve used salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide in the past but it just seemed to irritate my skin more and make the bumps more noticeable. I thought it could be a combination of keratosis pilaris and maybe razor bumps?

u/Due_Ice9820 — 4 days ago

Scented body washes or lotions that don’t irritate?

Currently everything I use is unscented which does the trick but I want to add something into my routine with a yummy scent that lasts.

Would laser hair removal help ? It’s disgusting.

Please don’t tell me what products to try. I can guarantee I have. Been the same for a year. It’s so gross and I’m tired. I just bought a laser hair removal package, I’m scared it won’t help. To me it’s 12/10. I don’t shave it looks bad. I shave it, it looks the same.

[Routine Help] Stubborn Bumps

Hello. I’ve been getting the stubborn bumps on my face, forehead, neck, cheeks, and jawline since stopping accutane. Seems like it’s KP but I haven’t found a way to treat it and it’s typically best when I don’t use anything but water and gentle cetaphil oil free moisturizer. I’ve also been getting red bumps on my neck after just trimming my face (not close shaving), not sure if the red bumps are folliculitis since they are not itchy, or just keratosis pilaris bumps becoming inflammed. Any recommendations do get this under control would be greatly appreciated!

Some of the bumps also have a visible hair follicle coming from them.
