Unsure what to do at this point

I have tried all the lotions and potions and I just don’t know what to do at this point… I’m on tret 0.025% for the last few weeks on top of Urea 20% and it’s just not making it better. Any ideas of what I can do it just make this not look soooo prominent.

KP discolouration and spreading all over

Hi all,

I’m looking for some advice on how to treat the bumps and pigmentation in the photos.
I’m a guy and I had 5 sessions of laser hair removal before deciding to stop.

Since starting laser, I noticed these small follicular bumps becoming much more noticeable and appearing in areas where I either didn’t have them before or they were barely visible. They’re now present over quite a lot of my body.

The lack of hair also seems to make the texture stand out a lot more, and I’ve developed some redness/darker pigmentation around the follicles as well. It’s been stressing me out because my skin now looks and feels much bumpier than it did before.

I saw a dermatologist who prescribed tretinoin and glycolic acid, which I mix with a glycerin-based compound and apply to the affected areas. I’ve been started treating it properly for months.

I’m considering seeing another dermatologist or cosmetic dermatologist to ask whether anything else can be done to smooth the texture and improve the pigmentation. Would laser/microdermabrasion help?

Has anyone dealt with something similar, particularly after laser hair removal? Did you manage to significantly improve the bumps and skin texture, and if so, what helped?

Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated.

Is it KP? Help

See attached photos. I have been to one derm who said it was KP but sorta wrote it off as common and nbd. It’s been driving me crazy lately, the red spots are mostly where I have picked…
For context I’m 30f and 9m postpartum, still breastfeeding. Thanks in advance any input would help

Heavy KP on my butt

Obviously can't add a pic but I've had KP all my life on my arms and just one smaller area on my butt.

The kp on my arms got sm better, here's my "routine":

  1. Physical peeling with a tougher loofa glove under the shower + a cheap peeling

  2. 7% glycolic acid toner from the ordinary

  3. 10% urea lotion

However, since the kp on my butt is much heavier (almost scab like as in color and texture) I feel like I have to change something about my routine. The dermatologist had a look and said it's regular kp and to use urea and/or glycolic/salicylic acid.

Sometimes I'm close to just slathering the acid or urea on gauze and letting it sit over the night but idk if that's the way to go.

Anyone have advice for a heavy case like this? At least to have some sort of "break through" or progress?

Anyone dealing with chicken skin?

I’ve had keratosis pilaris for as long as I can remember. They were actually pretty bumpy in my teen years and have pretty much smoothed out when I reach my 20’s. Now at 45, skin is ridiculously smooth but still very visible. I understand it’s nothing to worry about. And it has nothing to do with being ashamed of it. It’s simply an aesthetic preference. Has anyone had any success in getting rid of them? I feel like I’ve tried everything recommended by my dermo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 🫶🏽

I’m so unhappy with how I look

I’ve dealt with legs like this for my entire life. I’m so frustrated I’ve tried everything waxing, glycolic acid, KP creams, sunscreen, no sunscreen, etc. It’s like I have curly hair trapped underneath all of these dots and I’ve even tried individually extracting the hair underneath but it’s not enough. I just want to be able to wear shorts and feel confident.

Actual improvement! Comparison pics

I posted a picture of my leg a few weeks ago asking for keratosis advice. I bought a glycolic acid exfoliator stick (by the inkey list) and used it for about two weeks straight until it ran out. Didn't last long, but my skin tolerated it just fine.

I've now picked up their 10% urea moisturizer and started using that, and I'm seeing a noticeable improvement.

Thought I'd post a comparison pic for the community :)

Both pics taken are of the same leg, shaven, in the same exact same place, with flash. 2.5 weeks apart.

Bumps on skin

Hello guys, I have kp since I was a kid… but this summer I started to notice this new bumps on my arms and legs, and I don’t know what they are.
I was thinking that maybe they might be connected to the heat, sun or sweat… does anyone have opinions?

has anyone’s KP gotten inflamed like this, looks like folliculitis?

so for context, I’m 26 now but my KP began when I was about 20 (I had it as a child but it went away until the ). It’s just been on my chest and butt and easily managed with heavy moisturizing.

however recently something really irritated it and it started getting pretty itchy. I scratched it my sleep, even. I thought I needed to exfoliate more so I used that exfoliating body wash with beads in it. I believe I may have introduced bacteria with my scratching and that horrible body wash causing tiny tears in my skin, as I now know it does from googling, bc after that it got a lot worse and spread all over my back and shoulders. It looked almost identical to this.

right now the itching had died down a lot but at least on my butt it looks like it completely turned to folliculitis…the bumps are bigger than my usual KP ones and tender. I plan to try benzoyl peroxide there. I did try h&s shampoo thinking it was fungal and it did not help.

My Kp is almost gone from the most unexpected source…

I struggled with it for 10+ years and I’ve tried pretty much everything. I I struggle with the routines because I have ADHD and after a couple of days of being on top of it, I forget about it. Out of sight out of mind. So my arms are always bright red, my legs are always bright red and there’s always sandpaper skin.

Then I started a Glp. It’s been 1 WEEK. And it’s basically gone. No bumps no redness all I can still see are the little spots, but even though are fading.

I read it was a potent anti-inflammatory, but I had no idea that it was this potent.

i am not paying thousands of dollars just to get rid of my kp when self acceptance is free

i have good & bad days regarding it but mostly i have accepted i have it & probably always will. i use sensitive hydrating products & lots of lotion to keep my skin "soft" but theres just no way i will go back to trialing all of those acids or even start to pay for session upon session of hair removal or chemical peels. id rather just learn to live & love myself. my life has been easier since i just accepted my reality & it doesn't affect literally anything in my life (because i don't let it) other than sometimes i wish i was a little smoother.

i hold no judgement & honestly a lot of respect for people who do pay & invest a lot into their treatment because i do believe that is also another form of self love but for me the obsession with product trialing was ruining my life.

edit: included one clarification + yes my kp hurts too, really really bad sometimes. but i have worked towards mentally tuning out the pain & refuse to scratch or itch because it only lasts a few moments for me personally & i know it will end so im ok with that :) its not easy, but i wanted my life back so thats what i did. it might not work for everyone but it does for me.

Trader Joe’s lotion- Unexpectedly amazing product

Trader Joe’s Hand & Body Cream with Moroccan Argan Oil

Have gone through ~10-12 bottles at this point.

No exfoliating ingredients but makes my skin so smooth. Has even cleared small spots of my skin?? It’s magic.

Thick but sinks in and leaves no oily/slippery residue. Keeps me moisturized all day. Doesn’t clog my pores. Doesn’t irritate my ultra sensitive skin.

No added fragrance but since there are some essential oils, it has a very light scent that disappears completely when absorbed. Normally this would irritate my skin but it doesn’t somehow.

Only like $4!!

Unfortunately I don’t have a before and after pic but for reference, I have had severe KP all my life - redness, rough texture, raised bumps both the scaly flatter/small ones and bigger more pimple like ones. It’s everywhere except my calves, feet, hands, face. I’m in my 30s and it has gotten worse in the last ~10years (yay for being told during childhood it would disappear when I was an adult 🥴)

“Aging Out” of KP

I have KP on my arms that, like many people, was inherited from my parent(s). I have heard that often, after reaching a certain age range, people begin to notice it slowing down and eventually smoothing out entirely. For my mom she was about 30. I’m a few years off from 30 but was wondering if anyone has an experience with “aging out” of their kp at any age. I do feel mine has smoothed a bit in recent years, but it is still there. Redness will remain an issue long after it (hopefully) leaves, but that’s a different bucket of beans

My keratosis get better, i want to share what happened

So, it's been about 10 days since my keratosis pilaris got better.

The bumps are still visible, but the skin itself feels much smoother.

Around the same time, I started taking these supplements:
- Vegan Omega 3

- Black ease in capsules

- Articoss I take this for my joints. I don't think this had anything to do with my KP, because I actually started taking it back in May and didn't notice any change in my KP at the time.

I've also been spending quite a lot of time in the sea recently, since I started windsurfing.

So I'm sharing this because I'm wondering whether it could simply be the summer + seawater, or whether the improvement might somehow be related to the two supplements I started taking recently.

I'm curious to know if anyone here has tried Omega-3 or black garlic and noticed a similar improvement in their KP.

Obviously, this is just my personal experience and I have no idea what actually caused the improvement. I'm not affiliated with any of these products. If you've tried other brands with the same ingredients, I'd be interested to hear about your experience too.

Wedding coming up, looking for KP advice!

Hi y'all! My wedding is in October and I have a few tattoo appointments coming up that I'd love my KP to be clearer for (I know i have to hold off on actives for a few weeks after the tattoos.) I have been using Amlactin daily lotion for a few days and feel like it's helped a bit, but was wondering if maybe the SkinFix exfoliant/lotion would be a more efficient system, or if y'all have any other recommendations for the fiercest most optimal KP routine. Lol.

My current routine is washing in the shower with the method Micro Buffing Body wash, then using Amlactin and/or the Naturium Bio-Lipid Restoring Body Lotion, often followed by sweet almond oil (all unscented.) Sometimes I put aquaphor on at the very end when I want to be very glowy,

I'd love any advice! My arms don't look thaaatttt bad, but it's still irksome. Thank you in advance!

Sun exposure makes KP worse for me

I’ve seen many on here mention that the sun has made their KP better or less noticeable (probably by reducing possible bacteria and tanning making it less noticeable).

However, I’ve noticed that my KP gets much worse and inflamed with sun exposure. It has gotten a lot better since I’ve started regulating my sugar intake but I notice the sun makes it worse particularly around my shoulders.

Does anyone else experience worsening KP with sun exposure?
