Sun exposure makes KP worse for me

I’ve seen many on here mention that the sun has made their KP better or less noticeable (probably by reducing possible bacteria and tanning making it less noticeable).

However, I’ve noticed that my KP gets much worse and inflamed with sun exposure. It has gotten a lot better since I’ve started regulating my sugar intake but I notice the sun makes it worse particularly around my shoulders.

Does anyone else experience worsening KP with sun exposure?

Can we be more mindful about how we describe pregnancy-related skin darkening?

I’m probably going to get downvoted to smithereens for this, but I’m tired of seeing posts about pregnancy-related skin darkening described with phrases like “my skin got so dark” or “I have poop-brown spots.”

Pregnancy can obviously cause dramatic changes in pigmentation, and I understand being shocked or uncomfortable when your skin suddenly looks different. But there’s a difference between expressing discomfort with a change in your own appearance and describing brown skin in ways that make it sound inherently ugly, dirty, or undesirable.

Brown is a normal skin color for millions of people. So when I see phrases like “poop brown” used to describe someone’s skin, it’s hard not to notice the underlying colorism in that language.

You can dislike the pigmentation changes happening to your body without framing brown skin itself as something disgusting.

I think we should be more mindful of the words we use, especially in a space where women of all different skin tones are reading and sharing their experiences.
