How do you feel about Advocates?

When I started working in the Advocacy field, I was amazed at not just what they can do, but also that many people have no idea a resource like this is even in their area. How many of you have any experience, good or bad from working with an advocate? Please share your stories, I’d love to hear all your answers.

Repeat trip previously consisted of asthma attacks, undetermined injury, and a proposal, scared to go back, AIO?

This story might make you hate my fiancé so here’s a few good things about him first, he remembers every anniversary (I don’t I’m horrible), he doesn’t remember my favorite flowers but remembers the color and keeps getting me orange roses lol (my favorite is marigolds), he takes amazing care of me when I’m sick, he is ridiculously funny, incredibly supportive, and ridiculously gorgeous, curly black hair, lil beard action, grey/blue/green eyes, huge arms muscle, and a bit of a dad bod but I love all of it, and if I could build a perfect body it would be his, anyways, now that you’ve heard the good things, prepare for the story..

My Fiancé takes a trip to Wisconsin every year to meet up with his childhood best friend and do a bunch of really fun shit, its fireworks, fishing, and food. I love all of these things as well, those aren’t the issue.

My last relationship ended in almost a hostage situation so I have not liked not having a way to get out places, especially when it’s somewhere I don’t recognize. I’m just always on edge now, but I manage and it’s just a matter of being comfortable over time. Anyways, when we went, we only took one vehicle. That he proceeded to leave in, for 16 hours a day, for the first three days. Now, the house isn’t bad at all, and his friends girlfriend was home, but I don’t like talking to people when I’m forced too either. It just makes me automatically not like them, but she was so great that I did end up liking her.

However, after 3 days of barely seeing him, I kinda lost it. Before the trip I had asked that he doesn’t ditch me and he did, and I told him I was contemplating ending the relationship and he just put in me in a very uncomfortable position where I felt unsafe in the exact manner I asked him not too. He apologized, genuinely, and then asked me to please not leave because he had something amazing planned, something that I would love, and it was a hike…
He proposed on this hike, the proposal story itself is a little insane, it did include serious injury or death for someone, (I am unsure) but I ended up saying yes after a moment to calm down.
Anyways, I am going again this year, and I feel anxious as fuck. They said they’ve only planned fishing for two days, and only one he will ditch me for and then we’ll all go together, and bbqs with the fireworks, but holy shit yall I am scared.

Dream Job smacked me in the face

I applied for the same position, different place. The director was coincidentally the person who answered the phone when I called to see how my application was proceeding, and she asked me to directly send her my resume. I did, and I did an interview with her, a director for a different but similar program, and someone I would’ve been trained by. The interview was normal but afterwords the other director of the program reached out to me about a position on her team, and honestly a better position. I took it, and the reality hasn’t quite hit me yet. I’m going to be getting not one, but two offices. I get to do more outreach within the community, teach others, and really help people. It’s dayshift, weekends off, and a good amount of PTO each year. I’ve been working towards this for so long it doesn’t quite seem real. I’m excited but there’s this damper where I still can’t let myself feel really excited. I don’t really have anyone who’s excited for me, and I think that maybe why. Anyways, it was nice to share, thank you for reading 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

I made two because we didn’t know what our friend would want on her birthday. One is a plain Chocolate, the other is a lemon blueberry. I also made two homemade whipped creams, one regular and one peanut butter. I might also make chocolate covered strawberries
I gave her a call at 9 about the cheesecakes and she asked why it was taking so long, when she asked me to make them at 6pm and I had to wait for my husband to come home with some ingredients, which he did at about 7:30 pm. Had me fooked up tbh, and at least one person at this birthday party better say thank you or I might never bake for them again.

Update: I sent her the finished photos and she was amazed and said they look fantastic I shall cook again 🤌🏽🤌🏽
