First srs appt

Does anyone have experience with dr. Adam Kaye in PA? I have my first appt with an SRS specialist tomorrow and it’s quite the drive for me. I’m just looking for what to expect at the initial consult/appt. I’m not officially diagnosed but have all my scans to bring with me.

Time off for surgery

im posting this really just to vent and feel like im not crazy. i want to start by saying i am not in a position to quit - i am barely able to work and it’s very minimal hours and the only income i can get right now

im having surgery this coming monday and it was pretty quick to schedule, so i told mb a few weeks ago. she knew this would be happening eventually. with this surgery i cannot walk for a minimum of 6 weeks and it will be a minimum of 12 weeks until i can work again(and fully walk). i told mb again(she knew this prior to scheduling bcs i’ve known it’s a surgery i’d need one day). she just is so selfish and she is making me feel so guilty about having surgery. she genuinely EXPECTS me to be back to work at 2 weeks post op and i truly laughed at her when she said that. she keeps talking about how hard it is without me and how much they’re gonna struggle(she works from home and db is unemployed and is home full time) i haven’t gotten anything nice or “i hope recovery goes well” “feel better soon” or anything along those lines. she just keeps saying “we’re gonna struggle so much without you” “i can drop the girls off with you right after surgery” “ you’ll be able to walk before 6 weeks” im just so tired of it. i sent her articles regarding the surgery to help show her there will be no chance of me walking before 2 months. i don’t know how else to explain it to her and on top of the anxiety regarding surgery im consumed with guilt and negative comments from my mb. as im writing this too i get a text from her “man it is going to suck when you get surgery” instead of anything reassuring or nice. and i get she doesn’t have to be there for me at all - i work for her - but her just being negative and no sympathy at all is really awful feeling. i’ve also been telling her for over a year to find a backup nanny or someone who can cover days i can’t since im just 3 days a week but instead she doesn’t even try and she makes me feel bad about the days i don’t work. if she had another nanny this would honestly not be as much of an issue but she refuses. this is mostly just a vent but id love also to write a text to clear the air that i will in fact NOT be there until i am healed and can walk.

PAO with hyper mobility

I saw Dr. Vandevelde today about a PAO. He was so amazing and so nice, he took the time to listen and explain everything so well. I am hypermobile and have ehlers danlos syndrome. Because of this he said that they wouldn’t do a labral tear repair as well. He said it would heal on it’s own. He explained it to me that he would have to open the joint which could cause more instability? I am just wondering if anyone else has had a PAO with hyper mobility and not have your labrum repaired. I’d love to hear if anyone has similar experiences, thank you!

BMI for surgery

I just had my appointment at HSS and have been trying to get a PAO. Has anyone had an issue doing surgery because of their BMI? I’m 5’4 190 pounds and I was 245 when I started losing weight. My BMI is roughly 32. I am probably less than 190 now as it’s been a few weeks since I checked. The doctor said i definitely need a PAO asap. I’m at the point where I can’t walk at all. But he won’t do it until I’m under 30 BMI. How do I lose 10 more pounds unable to move at all? I eat well and diet already

Hip pao dr

Has anyone seen Dr. Sink at HSS? I just saw dr. Nawabi and he was amazing. He wants to schedule surgery for the labral tear but referred me to Dr. sink to do a pao. I’m not very familiar with this and wondering if anyone has experience to share about dr sink. Thanks!

i have been dealing with mid thoracic back pain for 15 years (im 22) ive been to what feels like every doctor. im gonna try to sum it up but recently i learned about ehlers danlos and it describes me perfectly and i am trying to go about getting a diagnosis. I have had countless imaging of my back and several doctors tell me there’s nothing there and brush it off. i was just admitted for 5 days from the pain. i have no quality of life and now am unemployed from pain. the only thing to have ever given me relief was the chiropractor. i saw him until like 2022 when i got a chiari malformation diagnosis and learned about the dangers of chiropractors and havent been able to go since. i suffer every day with this back pain. i lay on a heating pad all day and use a foam roller for relief. im starting to think the pain is coming from my ribs. i like the stretch my back a lot to make it feel better and move it in such weird ways trying to crack it. it’s also really hard to get a full deep breath. i have mild to moderate scoliosis too but was told that wouldn’t be causing this intense pain. im wondering if this sounds like slipping rib to anyone. or something wrong with my ribs connected to my spine.  i do get sharp pain in my chest to but not to the degree of my back pain as that is constant. what kind of doctor would diagnose this? i feel like this is just urgent at this point because i am literally bedridden. im really posting to see if anyone has similar experiences and was able to find relief as im really desperate. ive had countless mris,ct scans, and xrays that show nothing.
