More Sensitive to Cool Air Temperatures / Air Conditioning

I'm almost 8 weeks into OMAD. I've been working on significant weight loss (SW: 252, CW: 219, GW: 175ish). 49M, 6'2". In addition to OMAD, I'm also focusing on a caloric deficit through diet (not exercise, I'm pretty sedentary). I was keto in the beginning, but I've relaxed that a little bit (I'm still very mindful of carbs, but if my one meal is a burger then I'll have the bun for example). I'm probably still pretty low carb and in ketosis most of the time. I'm also incorporating one 48 hour fast each week, so it's really six meals a week instead of one meal a day. I haven't been snacking or deviating from that meal schedule at all. Only water and DIY Na, K, Mg electrolytes at other times.

I've always run hot, as in I'm almost never too cold in an air conditioned environment. I usually keep the house at 74 Deg. F and would prefer even colder. The past month I've been keeping the house at 78 Deg. F and have been comfortable, even at night while sleeping and haven't had any sweats at all. At the office, what was normally a comfortable temperature for me is now almost unbearably cold. I have a small fan on my desk that I never need to use anymore, which I used to use somewhat regularly.

I assume my body is not generating as much body heat from digestion as I used to before OMAD and dieting. Is that why or is there more to it? Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

Paranoid About Salt

Background, about 6 months ago at my last medical physical my blood pressure was a little bit high. Doc asked me if I cook at home or eat out a lot. At the time, I was eating out a lot and mostly junk. Doc immediately said that I'm eating too much salt and it is causing my elevated blood pressure. I'm also overweight to mildly obese and have been diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver (though I'm sure some alcohol contributed). I'm basically your typical middle aged American with a bad diet. My blood pressure hasn't really been impacted though, and cholesterol has also been fine.

I'm 3 weeks into Keto. I've been practically 0 carbs, maybe a gram here or there of sugar in a sausage or something at the most. I'm also eating one meal a day, skipping one day a week for a 48-hour fast. In the first two weeks I dropped 13 lbs, almost certainly water weight. I didn't notice keto flu, but I did have a mild headache at times. When I started I was fairly uneducated and wasn't aware of the keto electrolyte loss. I learned more and about 10 days ago I started taking a DIY mix of Na, K and Mg mimicking LMNT. I have been taking about two LMNT packages worth of electrolytes a day which is only 2,000 mg of Na which appears to be well under the 3,000-5,000 mg recommended for someone on Keto. I realized that the K in the LMNT recipe is way low compared to daily recommended intake, so I bumped up the K starting this morning. The electrolytes did reduce the headaches thankfully.

Yesterday I went to the dentist and they took my blood pressure and it was 133/98, a little bit higher than when I had visited the Doc 6 months ago.

I've been reading more and it appears that low and high Na can cause high blood pressure, and low K can as well.

I really don't want to stress my heart out during this diet and I'm really not sure what to think anymore. It's possible that the blood pressure is high because of low Na or K, but it's also possible that it's high because of high Na. or it's possible that my blood pressure isn't really being impacted by an electrolyte imbalance. I have no clue.

Any input is welcomed. Thanks!

Two Weeks Into OMAD

I'm two weeks into OMAD and things are going really well so far. I'm actually doing SMAW (Six Meals a Week) because I've been including one 48-hour fast each week and plan to keep that going for now.

My goal is significant weight loss. SW: 252, CW: 239, GW: 175ish

My TDEE maintenance is approximately 2,400 calories, and I'm certainly eating well below that because I've been absolutely stuffed on very small quantities of food during my one meal, especially compared to how I used to eat.

In addition to OMAD, I'm also on a low (practically no) carb/keto diet because I need to correct a fatty liver and visceral fat in general. Blood work shows slightly elevated bilirubin and red blood cell count which Doc attributes to a fatty liver. Blood pressure & cholesterol are all ok thankfully. I suspect there is some insulin resistance as well that I'd like to address.

I'm hoping the 48-hour fast will help to minimize any stalls or natural adaptation to OMAD and keep the progress going. I fully expect the weight loss to slow down though.

So far my energy has been fine. Mental clarity seems improved. I'm hungry all the time, except after that one meal though. In between meals, I'm only drinking water with electrolytes (DIY: Na, K, Mg) occasionally. I haven't been doing any at home testing other than my weight.

I guess I just wanted to share and welcome any input, especially from people who may have had a similar journey/approach. I'm especially interested in things/adjustments that I might want to consider for the longer haul.

Thanks for reading and for any feedback you wish to provide.

Are We Anticipating Fall Tour Today?

but the foam (particularly around NOLA) keeps getting thicker

and it (the anticipation) just keeps getting harder

(am I) falling into a deep well (?)

Please forgive the excitement. Phish very rarely plays in my neighborhood and I'm really hoping this NOLA smoke holds true!

Considering switch from VTI to ITOT

Edit/Update: Post is incorrect. S&P allows fast track inclusion of megacap IPOs in their total market index but not the S&P 500 index. See comments.

Lots of financial advisors who advocate for long term buy and hold investing in broad market index funds have indicated that they are very pleased that S&P declined to change the rules to fast tack inclusion of megacap IPOs in their indices. I had been aware of the S&P 500 index tracked by ETFs like VOO, SPY and other ETFs, but I was not aware of the S&P Total Market Index which is tracked by the iShares Core S&P Total US Stock Market Index ETF ITOT.

I've been a long term holder of VTI which tracks the CRSP US Total Market Index. Like NASDAQ and FTSE, CRSP did decide to change the rules to allow for fast track inclusion of megacap IPOs.

ITOT is largely the same as VTI and only misses out on some microcap stocks, so I've been considering making the switch.

I'm not thinking of making the switch out of fear. I know that SPCX is initially going to account for less than 1% of the CRSP index because of the small amount of publicly traded shares. I also recognize that a switch like this won't make any notable change positively or negatively for me financially. At the same time, I'd like to not get nickel and dimed by fast tracked IPO shenanigans and might make a switch based on principle.

Thoughts?
