PSA: can't recommend the emulated HRTR on Xbox PC as it stands

Hi folks,

Want to give you a PSA to save you the heartache should you try to play the newly-released High Road to Revenge on the Xbox PC store.

It pains me to say it, but don't buy this game right now. I've logged feedback with Microsoft and will keep you posted if I hear anything back.

There are clearly some serious sync issues that are playing havoc with savegames. Depending on what mood the game is in, I'm either loading my save up to a permanent shot of the Pandora's interior that never advances or into the intro cutscene and first mission.

I've lost ~10h of progress. I played for about an hour again last night, loaded up this morning and I've lost that too.

HRTR wiped save on Xbox PC

Hi folks,

Has anyone else given the emulated High Road to Revenge on the XBOX PC store a go yet?

I was getting right into it (just finished the second hub world by the looks of it) and then something dead weird happened: an Xbox prompt popped up saying the GUI was being synced and then I got into the hangar but nothing happened, just the guys hammering the inside of the Pandora.

Quit the game, fired it up again, loaded my save and... Betty's telling me we have to find Pandora. I'm right back at the start.

Anyone else experienced this?

Waited almost 25 years for this moment...

19th March 2002, and Microsoft announces that one of my favourite games is getting a sequel.

Except I don't even get to the end of the first sentence of the press release when I read one of my two most loathed gaming statements in that era alongside 'PlayStation exclusive': "under exclusive development for the Xbox™ video game system."

Well, fuelling a mantra I've long since learned to live by, patience has been a virtue. I'm about to fire up High Road to Revenge on my PC, as nature intended.

See you on the other side.

Best syrups in the UK?

Happy Saturday everyone!

I used to like adding honey back in the pre-superauto age. I'm finding so far it leaves a little 'coin' of honey at the bottom of the cup.

Purchased a bottle of supermarket syrup and the regret was, as in all bad things with coffee, of the instant variety.

What's a decent line, supermarket, branded or indie, of syrups I could get in the UK please, or is there a better method to use with honey?

Thanks!

Joined the club today: what next?

Hi everyone,

Hope you're well and thanks for having me.

Sent my 5-year-old Breville Barista Express to the great WEEE cage in the basement at the store today after it decided everywhere was a valid exit for water. Truth be told, while it was a solid machine, I never mastered it despite a lot of effort.

So I treated myself to an Eletta Explore and my first superautomatic today. Had an absolutely delightful flat white from it earlier and very pleased with my purchase.

Questions:

  1. Anything I should be mindful of to prolong life? I'm aware of regularly cleaning the waste box, replacing the filter, descaling and taking out the brew head.

  2. Drinkware. Double wall glasses look fancy, but what are they like to actually drink coffee from? Always rather liked my little cup and saucer and espresso mugs.

  3. Other accessories. Anything I might like?

  4. How decent is the included travel mug? As in will it have any coffee in it after 25 miles in a rucksack on the back of a motorcycle or do I need something else?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Just joined club Eletta: what's useful to know?

Hi everyone,

Took the plunge this morning and there's a new Eletta Explore waiting to be opened once we've driven home. I'm jumping from a Sage/Breville Barista Express after five years - never could find the time or patience to master it before it went pop.

What's good to know, especially as I'm making the transition? I know I need to test the water hardness (Southeast UK, so whatever the top of the scale is! 😜) and I've downloaded the app. I'm especially keen for any maintenance lookouts beyond what the manual tells me.

Thanks in advance for any advice or insights. Looking forward to it!
