Finally found the perfect set up for my large Rivelia machine! Love it! What do you think?
After a while of using pre-ground coffee and a basic machine, I finally built out a dedicated espresso station at home. Here's what I'm working with:
- Machine: De'Longhi EC685 (Dedica)
- Grinder: De'Longhi KG521 (conical burr)
- Accessories: Stainless milk pitcher, rubber bar mat, stacked espresso cups, glasses on the warming tray
The setup looks clean and I'm happy with the overall aesthetic.
The problem: the grinder stalls on fine grinds.
This is a brand new unit (literally 2 days old) and I've already run into an issue. When I dial down to finer settings for espresso, the motor runs but the burrs stop spinning — it just locks up. The moment I go back to a coarser setting, it grinds perfectly fine with the same coffee (a medium roast specialty bean).
The brand's technical support told me it was the coffee's fault — that medium roast is "too hard" for fine grinding. I pushed back because that logic doesn't hold: if the coffee were the issue, it wouldn't grind at any setting. Coarse works, fine doesn't — that's a mechanical problem, not a bean problem.
Has anyone experienced this with the KG521 or other De'Longhi grinders? Is this a known defect? Should I push for a replacement or is there a fix?
Any advice appreciated — and curious to hear what grinder upgrades you'd recommend in the ~$200–$300 range if this one ends up being a dud.
I tried to test the machine with an espresso machine then I hit red lights everywhere, and it suggested online to descalte it, when I try to do it as in the video, it doesn’t pour any water
If you could give me simple words instructions as English is not my first language please
Hi guys,
Just bought Delongi Rivelia automatic machine and I struggle with the grind settings.
Have good fresh coffee - arabica blend Italian roast.
And it seams I can’t go under 5 grind settings or the coffee just slowly drips from the machine just slow small drops.
But on 5 when it comes out normal it taste sour and weird.
What’s your settings?
It’s something wrong with the machine?
We bought an Eletta Explore just over two years ago for the office, and it has just crossed the 10,000 coffee barrier. I'm seriously impressed with its longevity to be honest - it recieves a fair bit of punishment!
Hi, since I think about three years my machine gets stuck. I try everything t, like descaling, cleaning certain parts and every other thing that could possibly help but nothing works. Sometimes I twist the steam part on the left side (back and forward and again) and sometimes that works and I get my coffee, the same day I sometimes get another cup, sometimes I just give up. It has happened that I didn't use the machine for two months or so and after that the machine just works like it should.
Well, at this moment the machine is giving me trouble again and I think I need some help. So please? Btw Delonghi doesn't help unless I send it to them..
To preface - I know espresso machines can be a challenge but DANG! I’ve been trying to get this to work for 2 days. I got this De’Longhi 15 espresso machine from FB marketplace. It works perfectly fine for the og owner, however, I’m not sure why the espresso is not filtering through and spitting all over. I also was having trouble making sure the portafilter turned to center, but I finally got it. I’m using the illy Intenso Ground Espresso Coffee, Bold Roast. I know it’s not the best but it’s what I had on hand already. Could it be the ground?
Hello, my coffee machine (De’Longhi ECAM 23.460.S) is behaving strangely and I’d like your opinion on what to do or check.
When the machine is running, it sometimes randomly starts dispensing hot water, and then it rapidly flashes as if it is both making and not making hot water—like it doesn’t really know what it wants to do, as if there’s a wrong signal somewhere. The same thing happened with the water tank: it showed the message “insert tank” and kept blinking on and off.
Now the machine didn’t want to turn on at all. When I pressed the power button, it made a sound and the display lit up, but nothing was shown. After a while, the machine did start working, but then it didn’t respond to any button presses. After some time, the buttons started working again, and it functioned normally, but then suddenly none of the buttons would respond again. At one point, it also decided to start dispensing hot water on its own and then stopped immediately.
My question is whether the control board could be faulty, worn out, or something else. I don’t really believe these errors are caused by sensors, because when the sensors are manually triggered, you can clearly hear a click and the machine responds properly.
Otherwise, the machine itself makes coffee, hot water, and cappuccino normally. Recently, all seals were replaced because it was constantly leaking water.
Thank you so much for your time to read and response.
I have a Magnifica Evo Next ECAM31X.8X coffee machine. After cleaning the machine, this part has appeared. Is it a part of the coffee machine, or does it belong to something else?
Hello,
I got my machine like 2 months ago and couldn't figure out which size of the cup i should choose for each of the drinks.
After couple weeks of notes, and a lot of coffee i came up with spreadsheet for delonghi magnifica plus.
All coffees were made on frothing setting showed on screen of the machine and with 3,2% fat milk.
Hope it will be usefull for someone 😄
Hey everyone, I am new here and I'm just about exploring the community.
My wife and I are thinking about purchasing a Delonghi La Specialista Touch machine. I have a couple of asks.
Would love to hear from folks that have this machine, their experience, any reviews, pros and cons, and if they ever had issues with servicing.
Where is the best place to purchase this? I'm getting a great deal on Amazon with the cash back or multiple options for zero cost EMI, but there are other places like Caramelly and other websites that are also selling it and promise after-sales service.
Would be great if people can help me out with this here. Thank you very much in advance.
The infuser got stuck into the upper side and won’t come down. Also, the red triangle alert is on and the green lights are flashing. I can’t turn the machine on or off without using the back button. My machine is magnifica S ECAM22110b. I disassembled it to clean it, but after putting it back together, it now won’t work. Any help is much appreciated.😔
Finally found my favorite setting on my new fully automatic coffee machine! It took me a good 2 days LOL. It came as a default on 5 took it down to 3 (nothing would come out at 3 or 3.5) and found that my coffee beans (LavAzza Crema E Aroma) were good at a 4 with a size medium and intensity at a 4 and Temp at high. I’ve read on here that they recommend using the super Crema but my order didn’t get here for another two days so I went to my local store and got Crema E Aroma because I couldn’t wait that long to break it in! It’s a little strong for me but still great! Can’t wait to try the super Crema. I must say I’ve made 50 drinks so far since Monday
😂 obviously trial and error but so far I’ve been making 2 drinks a day!! My gosh it’s so addicting. Any tips on cleaning the infuser? I think that’s what it’s called! And I’ve read we are suppose to use some kind of lubricant where can I find that? Thanks!! 😊 I’ve attached some photos of my double shot this afternoon. All same pictures different lighting lol let me know what you think? So far I’m loving this thing!! My house smells like a coffee shop.
Hi! I have a DeLonghi that I’ve had for a while. I replaced the pump about four months ago and have used it frequently since then. Then one morning this started happening and I can’t figure out why.
When pulling a single espresso, the pump pauses mid-extraction and then continues. When I do the same for a double, it also pauses but then only pumps out roughly half the water compared to a single shot.
I descaled it yesterday but the problem persists. Does anyone have any idea what’s causing this, and what I can do to fix it?
My spouse says the DENSE setting on the Latte Crema Hot system (carafe) is barely dense enough with the full fat oat milk I use for her drinks.
To be frank, if there was a setting beyond that, I bet she would prefer that even more extreme version.
Any way to adjust the LatteCrema carafe to get ever more Dense than the Dense setting (by which I probably just mean more air and volume from the same amount of Oat Milk)?
Hey guys, I am coming for your advice. We have this De'Longhi machine, that stopped making coffe, which I managed to fix by replacing the infusor. But now, the steam refuses to come out of the nozzle. On the first time, only some hot water comes out. If I press hot water before pressing steam, it's a bit better. This was not a problem before the replacement, so I honestly have no idea what to look for. When I cancel the steam program, there is a pause (aprox 10-30s), before there is a hissing sound and vapor comes into the drip tray. Do you please have any idea, what this could be caused for?
Hi all
We have am Eletta model and we do regular cleaning, descaling, pulling apart the hour milk carafe and we all seem to be getting little froth. We use mainly Certified Organic Almond or Oak Milk. These milks are mainly water, done know these would cause issues.
The machine is just over 12 months old, still under warranty, purchased in Amazon.
Not sure what to do now.
Hello, wanted to ask maybe someone knows how to fix this issue that Primma Donna Soul stuck when trying to do descale. There is only sound but water is not running from hot water sprout, other descale / milk sprout is ok. There is full water and filter is ok. Also how to do the cycle reset? Plugging off the socket for hour and holding power off/on button >30 sec does not help. Any advice? Thanks !
Hi everyone,
Took the plunge this morning and there's a new Eletta Explore waiting to be opened once we've driven home. I'm jumping from a Sage/Breville Barista Express after five years - never could find the time or patience to master it before it went pop.
What's good to know, especially as I'm making the transition? I know I need to test the water hardness (Southeast UK, so whatever the top of the scale is! 😜) and I've downloaded the app. I'm especially keen for any maintenance lookouts beyond what the manual tells me.
Thanks in advance for any advice or insights. Looking forward to it!
Hello,
Our portafilter got vacuum-sealed. Now we can't seem to open it.
Can someone give us tips or advice regarding this matter?
Thank you in advance.
Update : Solved by forced twisting using my right hand.
