JTS AR12 lessons.

First of all thanks to “plentysoft” for his research and efforts in fine tuning this platform. I have the JTS ar12 with the Tharpe gun works arc fire adapter. After working a mag issue out I think we are closer to getting everything dialed in and reliable. Today I removed my standard ar H buffer as I was still having random feeding issues from the 10 round mags. I went back with the stock buffer and spring (no quarters in buffer tube as the buffer was denting both quarters). I was running Winchester 2 3/4 magnum dove at 1400fps. I ran 30 rounds from the 10 round mags with no failure to feed, no light primer strikes, no issues. I ran those loads on gas setting 1 and 2 with no perceivable difference in either setting. To reiterate, I have polished every sharp edge on my bcg with a dremel and use grease instead of oil right now. The bolt carrier is as smooth as a JP ar bcg. This has been a fun project and a learning experience. If you think blasting with an ar 10 is fun, this 12ga is on a whole different level of joy.

Cassette or other FRT

Just a poll, is a cassette style frt less problematic than a safety based FRT? Just curious. Recently I had an issue with a rifle equipped with a gen 1 arc with g$ trig and lever block. After 100 rounds or so the gun started being picky depending on what direction the barrel was pointed (locking up when pointed down). I just threw a disruptor in it and no more issues. Trigger is not near as sweet but at least it has been reliable for 200 plus rounds. Just curious if others have experienced this.

Jts m12 ar update.

I have fixed the feed issues from the 10 round mags. Got info from Facebook group and it works. Literally put a piece of rubberized grip tape on the back of mag to decrease the slop and 40 rounds of flawless operation. Got the kit for the arc fire from Tharpe gun works ,stock recoil spring, 3.81 oz conventional buffer (replacing the stock buffer). 2 quarters in buffer tube. Winchester high brass #4 1330 fps, gas setting on wide open (#3) Locks back on empty mag and no more feed issues. The cheap mag mod made all the difference 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Elfman Conley rant.

I jumped on the bandwagon when they started advertising these and after a few weeks I wanted to share my final thoughts. This trigger is pointless for an frt, it does have an adjustable pull weight but that’s it. The trigger shoe is uncomfortable and I can’t find an advantage over a rave 140 or a mimtac drastic (which are exceptional triggers). The Elfman Conley is nothing more than advertising hype! I just hope I can sell it and recover some of that $350-375 I paid for it. Elfman makes good products but this is not among them. It may be good for a standard rifle but for an frt, imho it’s crap!

Odin frt buffer and spring.

I recently installed one of these on a rifle (14 inch barrel suppressed) that was running very reliably most of the time with an h2 buffer and a super 42 spring. I was getting a light primer strike every now and then so I thought I would give this a try. It turned my rifle into a single shot in frt mode. I guess I’m going back to my previous combo with an enhanced firing pin (fixed my CARL). I had high hopes for this but I believe the buffer weight is just too much for my platform.

JTS M12AR project.

First of all before i begin i want to make it clear im not affiliated with any vendor of any parts but i will explain what worked for me.
First of all i got the jts m12ar for a good price. First thing i did was take it apart and cleaned all the shipping oil off of it and properly lubricated it. I put about 15 rounds through it to make sure it functioned properly. Today I installed a trip kit from tharpegunworks which is used in conjunction with a supersafety. The two parts were well machined from aluminum and fit perfectly. I then added 4 quarters to the buffer tube to limit the bcg from over traveling and binding. I retained the stock buffer spring and buffer. I used a pre cut trigger I received with an arcfire and used the stock hammer. Right out of the gate it ran perfectly 2 five round mags and 2 ten round mags without any problem. I should have followed the advice of some of our members as the stock trigger bar uses a larger disconnecter spring that I did not install and the trigger was light and mushy in semi. I will be modifying my trigger bar tomorrow to accept the larger spring. Just some light grinding on the disco spring pocket should not take much. Otherwise this was one of the easiest projects so far. I am going to play with some different buffer weights and see if that takes some of the recoil snap out. All in all I’m very pleased how it turned out.

Update on Elfman “Conley” trigger.

I put about 200 rounds on my super selektor equipped 16 inch barrel ar with an h2 buffer and super 42 spring today. After adjusting the trigger pull to my liking I have to say I’m impressed. The rof was extremely consistent and I had no light strikes or other weirdness. The forced reset was positive and consistent. At no time did I experience any inconsistent function. I still wouldn’t pay suggested retail again for the trigger but there are definitely benefits for running this setup. The trigger cartridge is a work of art. Just don’t over tighten the trigger pins as it will restrict hammer function. 👍🏻👍🏻.

Elf tactical “Conley” first impressions.

Well I received my trigger today and installed it with an Atrius super selektor that I had originally paired with a rave 140 trigger. Well, it dropped in easily and function checked perfectly. No adjusting, grinding or fitting. I’m a little disappointed as I was expecting a more polished unit with fit and feel like a higher end trigger. On single fire the trigger is mushy not very crisp but I guess for what it was intended for it’s ok. In frt mode it is very smooth, nothing out of the ordinary. The biggest plus is the pull weight is adjustable via set screw on top of the trigger. It’s easy to reach and easy to adjust. In my opinion, this is the biggest advantage. You can Taylor the pull weight to your liking. I’ll post an update when I can get some rounds through it. In conclusion, it looks nice, machining is good and functioned with the frt out of the box as advertised. Is it worth $300 plus dollars to me? No.

Hell has officially frozen over!

This evening was a history making event for me. After many many ss installs over the last few years, I actually installed a super safety for a friend in a radical firearms AR. I actually put in a trigger I cut (no jig). Dropped in a d2 super safety (DNT brand) and I didn’t have to grind, cut, tweak or polish/sand anything! It worked immediately. I’m going to keep going to church. Something has aligned the stars for me.😁

Finally got my 3 round burst frt working.

I kept removing material on the front bottom of the cam disconnector a little at a time and its function testing perfectly. (B kings 3 round burst kit) with arc fire first gen. I am confident it will perform perfectly. The strike trigger tester is an invaluable tool to test your setup. Thanks to all that contributed to this project.

After using the advice of tacticalgarand44 (much appreciated), I purchased an extended tip firing pin from black rifle arms and as of today I have 300 rounds on the rifle using win m855 ammo with 0 malfunctions. Black rifle arms markets the extended tip firing pin for 7.62x39 ammo with hard primers. They even have an extended tip plus that is even longer. Anyway, just the extended tip solved all my issues. Hope this info benefits the community. Have a great day.
