Let china have their AI

Everyone is all like: the US HAS to get powerful AI before china does. We have a ton of sanctions on their ability to buy chips and study in our universities, and we are pumping crazy money into AI development, so that we can "beat" China in AI.

I don't have an opinion on whether we should try to beat china at anything. I do, however, feel like the first country to get powerful AI ends up with... Mass joblessness, no purpose in life, generations that don't learn shit in school...

So, if our goal were to "beat" China... shouldn't we just let them keep developing AI? Like, go for it bro, you have fun with that.
