The Black Shirt Mistake

I was waiting inside a store for my friend when a woman walked up to me and asked where she could find a certain item.

I told her I didn’t work there, but she apologized and walked away. A few minutes later she came back and asked if I could check the back for her.

I had to explain again that I was just a customer. She looked at my shirt, then at the actual employees, and finally realized her mistake.

We both laughed about it and she apologized before walking away.

Possible Daughter from a One-Night Stand 23 Years Ago

I’d like to get some advice on what I should do. Here’s some background:

I’m 45 now but in 2002 when I was 21, I was visiting a friend at college about 100 miles from home. I met a woman at a bar/club, and we got along really well. She was from a city in Florida where I had recently vacationed, and she showed me her ID, so I knew her full name.

We had both been drinking, and after some flirting, we ended up hooking up in the back of her friend’s car. We were walking back to the bar and were about to exchange numbers, but my friends called me over, and I ended up leaving for a house party. I tried to find her afterward, but this was before social media was common, and I couldn’t track her down. I eventually moved on, thinking it was probably just a random hookup for both of us.

Recently, while talking with those same friends during the holidays, I randomly thought about her again. I searched her name online and found her Facebook profile. She’s married now and has teenage kids.

Then I saw a photo from a few years ago where she was celebrating someone’s 21st birthday. The caption said something like I can’t believe my baby is 21. That caught my attention because the timing would match if she had become pregnant from that night.

I also found a Father’s Day post from the same person saying something like, “You may not be my biological dad, but you’re still my father.” It made me wonder even more. The girl also looks a lot like one of my nieces, almost like they could be sisters.

I’m not sure if I’m overthinking this, but the possibility has been bothering me. They seem happy and have a good life, so I don’t want to cause problems. Is there any way to find out the truth without contacting them first? Or should I just leave it alone?
