This prompt has a little bit of a story, but it's really simple, I promise!

This idea originally started with the story of the Town Mouse and the Country Mouse. It's a cute little story about two mice who live in different environments, each getting a literal taste of each other's lives. (The Prince and the Pauper is a similar story with a different moral.) After thinking about this, I realized different selective pressures would probably make Digimon Digivolve differently anyway. The two Terriermon featured would probably lead completely different lives just because of their fields.

So here's the prompt: take two of the same Digimon and put them in different environments. Digimon has some fun "fields" to pick from. Would a Chuumon raised in a forest grow differently than one raised in the Metal Empire? I'd be curious about an Agumon joining Deep Savers while their counterpart grows up in Jungle Troopers territory, too! This is kind of a "twin" prompt with a twist. Enjoy! :)

Beatbreak has officially ended! Without spoiling too much, one of the best things about this ending was that the partners didn't go back to the Digital World or whatever; in fact, we got more of them.

This week's prompt is pretty easy: what kind of Digimon would hatch from your Sapotama if you had one? Since most of the mons we saw were Baby I/Fresh, I figured a fair way to do this would be to spin this wheel and see what you get! Again, there's no restriction aside from that; feel free to achieve your ideal self with whatever Baby I you get!

Habakirimon has finally been added to the Reference Book and is the Monster of the Week! It's been a long time coming, so they don't get sent to spoiler jail. :)

That said, a certain part of Habakirimon's lore stuck out to me:

"It is widely recognized that in ancient times, a Digimon—known as the "God of Destruction" in the Eastern Digital World—destroyed and recreated the world, but according to oral tradition, the God of Destruction had a trusted retainer, and it is said that Habakirimon was that retainer. Serving its master, Habakirimon is said to have been involved in the destruction of the world, making full use of its immense power."

I think we might be looking at a Hindu mythology reference, y'all. But since it's more implicit than anything, I'd like to focus more on the theme of this week's BeatBreak episode: loyalty.

When you think "loyalty," what Digimon come to mind? That's the real challenge, here! I get the feeling we're going to see a lot of dogs become big cats; surprise us!

The new Iliad-based Pendulum mons are out with names! You wanna make lines with 'em! I wanna make lines with 'em! I'm going to ride this rising tide and encourage y'all to make lines with 'em! With the Will has a great post on them with names and design information, so go wild making lines with these new beauties! (I've opened the floodgates, so no MotW this week. Just have fun doing what you probably wanted to do already!)

I almost did a Digimon Up prompt. Then, one, I realized a lot of people didn't like the game; two, there was another prompt I'd been wanting to do for a while. (Three, Beatbreak didn't have any particularly cool Digimon highlighted. No offense, Cougarmon!)

In the vein of liquid being a phase of matter, I'd like to see what people do with the solid Gotsumon forms this week! These have a bit of a cult status in the Digimon fandom. Savers even made fun of Meteormon being the same Digimon with a color change! So while the general theme is still "solid," bonus point for using Gotsumon, Icemon, or Meteormon! What do you mean, they're all the same Digimon?! (And if you want to make a new final form, go ahead. ;) )

Um...wow. Yes, this prompt was inspired by the latest ep of Beatbreak. Without spoiling anything, I think this might qualify as a Wham Episode. We're gonna be feeling the ripples of this ep for a while.

On that note, the Monster of the Week is Splashmon. Cool! I didn't know the image above was how Splashmon worked. (I have yet to see Xros Wars; did they change forms in Ghost Game?) Something like that totally makes sense for a liquid monster! (And yes, all modes are valid for the prompt.)

Come to think of it, has anyone else noticed how the series doesn't like aquatic Digimon lines? On some level, I get it: writing a fully aquatic character (like Gomamon) often means putting water in places where it shouldn't be, and aquatic creatures move differently from anything on land. (Insert rant about how the world underwater may as well be another planet here...and another rant about underwater fights.) But series like Savers cut the water line entirely and things generally feel minimized after Gomamon (not an entire line, just one armadillo submarine, huh?).

Time to fix that! While we have Splashmon in mind, let's get wet! This week's theme is liquid! The other states of matter will probably be coming soon. ;)

First off, I didn't know how to flair this, but my question pertains 99% to Zoan DFs. Second, the unreliable narrator was used well. Cool!

I'm not fond of Oda's desire to keep flying skills rare, though. Flight has to be one of the most common dreams in the world. I think there are ways to use it that wouldn't contradict the "pirate manga" idea. (I have thought way too much about bird DFs* in particular; guilty as charged for dreaming to fly and being obsessed with birds as a child.) For example, a woodpecker Zoan would be a thematically appropriate threat; woodpeckers have evolved to damage wood, i.e., ship material.

Even though flight is a very cool skill, there are enough counters that I don't think it'd be overpowered in One Piece's world. Oda might even be aware of the weaknesses flying Zoans have. Garp critically damaged a Mythical bird Zoan with one punch. It doesn't look like any Haki was used, but this was before Haki was described to the audience. Birds cannot take blunt damage, including punches. (And rocks. And windows.)

I'm venting, but also curious: did this SBS rub anyone else the wrong way? Or is it just me with three (now four) bird DFs in my fics? It could just be one of many things that I don't agree with Oda on (agree to disagree) and it's ultimately his story. Thoughts?

^(*I talk) ^(mostly) ^(about bird DFs when I talk about flight. Most flying DFs, with the major exception of dragons, will have similar strengths and weaknesses as birds. This has to do with the general requirements for flight (a light build, minimal armor, etc.) Look at a bat skeleton and tell me it can take a punch.)

Between the latest episode of Beatbreak and the existence of Witch Hat Atelier (if you know, you know), modern anime has seen a lot of good magical intentions go astray. This week, you get to play with the idea of "kind magic." What kind of Digimon represent kindness and good intentions to you? Or what would happen if those intentions went awry—something like Mephismon, perhaps? If you've ever wanted to mess with the Digimental of Kindness, now's your chance!

Now, now, let's not talk about who did what split version first! The Olympos XII just got new Pendulum lists. Since we don't even have names for the new Rookies (which I adore, BTW!), it's not fair to tell y'all to make lines off of them. (That said, I also don't think it's fair to put them in spoiler jail when we do get names. Open to thoughts on this.)

Instead...has it ever occurred to anyone that Coronamon and Lunamon seem stuck in official Digimon media? Apollomon and Dianamon are neat, but what if their Rookies became something else? That's really all I ask this week...but if you want more of a challenge, certain solar lion and lunar bat Pokemon are just waiting to become Digimon. ;) I know these two Rookies are fan favorites, so if you have something waiting, time to let it shine!
