Loudspeaker marathon continues. Turns out it's an 8-day thing. 🫠 Narayana Murthy would love these guy's dedication. 🫡

Day 5 Update of the loudspeaker marathon. You know what, they actually stopped the loudspeaker around 11:00 PM yesterday.

I tried to go to sleep after some point. I kept waking up at night a few times like yesterday thinking I heard the loudspeaker blasting again.

So, this time I actually went out to the balcony during midnight to check, and it was actually silent.

At this point, I am pretty sure my brain is just not in the right state from constantly hearing that repeated loudspeaker and I'm hallucinating the sound when it's quiet. 🤦🏻(I am even doubting if the loudspeaker went all night the night before last)

Also, yesterday I got to know from another user on the last post that it's an 8-day thing. Posted on Twitter about it, but didn't get any response yet.

They started at around 7:30 AM today. So, yeah I guess 3 more days the loudspeaker continues. 😑

Funnily, I was joking to myself that Narayana Murthy would really like these guys. 🫡

Living Next to Temples Blasting Loudspeakers Is Not a Peaceful Environment to Live In 😩

I have been living here in India with my family for many years. Most of that area used to be just open land with grass and trees. Over time, the neighborhood developed with houses, which eventually brought the setup of these temples - built by who knows, maybe locals or politicians looking for influence. Let' says multiple temples are built in every way possible

Every once in a while, these temples (video footage) completely ruin the peace, quiet, and sleep of everyone living nearby by blasting high-decibel loudspeakers for days, causing severe headaches. During festivals, it’s even worse. They just did a 3-day stretch and it is still continuing, blasting high-volume audio day and night.

Here is how the last three days went down:

  • May 15th: They started blasting sound at 5:00 PM. I waited, hoping they would stop after a couple of hours, but eventually had to call the police at 9:30 PM just so I could get some sleep.
  • May 16th: They started right back up at 9:00 AM. By 5:00 PM, I had a severe headache and called the police again.
  • May 17th (Today): They started blasting audio at 8:30 AM.

When the complaints were escalated through the local police today, the police told me that the temple management’s literal justification to them yesterday was: "Why should we stop our loudspeakers? Tell the Muslims to stop theirs mosque sound everyday." They also bragged to the police that they got political backing to get permission (and of course, the politician doesn't live anywhere near this noise).

Instead of being accountable or showing basic community respect, they’ve turned what should be a peaceful, spiritual space into a complete public nuisance.

When the police told me their excuse, I replied on the call: "If they really care about true devotion, it doesn't require digital amplification. Tell the people to use the voices in their throats in closed area so it's not disturbing nearby community." The police actually laughed and said, "They know they can't do that the whole day with their own voice, and most of these people here are not literate enough to understand that concept of not bothering others' peace. But we will try to check if anything can be done or escalate if it continues for further days."

It's clear that the people running this have zero consideration for other's peace and well-being.

I can't even concentrate to study or get anything useful done, and there aren't well-equipped public libraries nearby to escape to in this 40°C (104°F) summer heat.

Between the air pollution, poor water quality, constant traffic noise, and now this relentless loudspeaker, the environment feels completely unlivable. Honestly, it makes me feel terrible to have been born here, because all I want is a basic, peaceful life with clean air and water - things that feel completely impossible to get due to widespread corruption and a total lack of basic civic sense.
