Hardware transcoding not working ?
Cross post from their forums
Hi, new around here.
I’m using plex for more than 10 years and i’m also a plex pass user (lifetime).
I’ve recently bough a NAS, an Ugreen DXP 4800 Pro on which i’ve deployed the official plex app with docker (not linuxserver version) and last night i’ve tried to stream (over 5ghz wi fi network) to my Samsung Smart TV from 2017 ( https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/725fcbb ) the movie Requiem for a dream with the following specs : 2160 p Bluray/TrueHD Atmos 7.1/DoVi HDR 10 encoded using x265, a 40 GB file with around 49 000 kbps video bitrate), a dense one and i run into problems.
Movie was lagging, audio was desynchronizing and it was producing artifacts while it was directly playing (no hardware transcoding).
I know that my TV supports some HDR (type?) don’t know which but shouldn’t the server do hw on this file ? I mean there also Dolby Vision, HEVC why it’s playing natively ? see picture 1
And i have one more curiosity about cpu usage when transcoding.
File played fine after transcoding to 4k 20 mbps but the cpu usage (i3 1315u) was around 16 to 20 %. Is it normal to be that high ?
