This isn't me, but I am a mammalogist and I offered to help a grad student identify some of the mice her team caught in California. Most photos were pretty normal animal handling photos but this one sent me. I don't wear my nails this long, especially in the field, but you go diva 💅

Products: unknown

Mouse: brush mouse (Peromyscus boylii)

Edit: this mouse is alive despite looking droopy. When you scruff them they often relax like that. I can tell he's alive by how wide his eyes are. They don't do that when they're 💀

I love that Missoula is safe for pedestrians, but...

For the love of all that is holy please quit stopping in the middle of the road for jaywalkers. As the occasional jaywalker, it drives me absolutely mad when I have timed my cross perfectly with traffic and someone stops for me. This happened this morning on Stephens. The sidewalk is closed on my usual route so I decided to just dash across Stephens. No traffic coming from the left, one car coming from the right. Cool, I'll just time it to go after that car. Nope. That car sees me step off the side walk on the OTHER side of the median and they start slowing down for me. JUST GOOOO

Edit: just would like to add that I cross at a crosswalk everyday. It is absolutely my preference, and I only jaywalked because the sidewalk was closed. I wasn't going to go way out of my way just to cross a mostly empty street at a crosswalk. This was at 8am and the ONLY car on Stephens was the one that stopped for me. If they had kept their speed, they would have passed and I would have crossed safely with no one needing to wait for one another.
