Landlord had Ring Doorbell on my Private Entrance (NH)
I’m a travel nurse and on a 6-month contract, so I used Furnished Finder to find a place to stay. It’s a unit above a detached garage, with the landlord’s house on the same property. Signed a 6 month lease for this unit because that's the length of my contract
When I arrived, I noticed a Ring doorbell on the front door of my private unit. The landlord’s house is on the complete opposite side of the property. At first, I tried to ignore it, but I’ve become increasingly aware that he’s monitoring it pretty frequently.
The other day, I was walking my dog when one of the neighbors said, “That was a huge bear, wasn’t it?” I had no idea what he was talking about, so he showed me a picture of the bear from a few days earlier. It was obviously taken from the Ring doorbell at my private front door.
So, it seems like the landlord is actively watching the camera and apparently sending pictures taken from it to the neighbors. I have no access to the Ring account or camera, and I’m really uncomfortable with the idea that my comings and goings are being monitored and recorded. I checked my lease, and there’s nothing in it about video recording, surveillance, or a Ring doorbell.
Am I overreacting, or has anyone else experienced something like this? I could understand something like this on an Airbnb where new people are coming and going constantly maybe, but I signed a 6-month lease for this property and the landlord ran a credit check on me. I’m not concerned about the bear itself (it’s a rural property ), it’s more the fact that there’s a camera on my private entrance that I didn’t know about or agree to, and the landlord seems to be actively monitoring it.
