Epos (aka Roger Shah) – Vivagio (Danjo & Styles Remix) [2005]

Lovely track from Roger Shah with the Danjo & Styles Remix being the best I think.

Aura Infinity - Wild Cherry (1996 Remix)

This is a special tune.

Such a simple riff with a touch of acid and it just keeps progressing along nicely building and just when you think its done it has more to offer.

Marc Collier - Let Freedom Ring (Original Mix) [1997]

Only heard this today for the first time but I like it.

A quick scan on Discog shows Marc seems to have mostly produced house music on various aliases over trance from what I can see but I don't know anything else about him.

Allegro - Moments In Love (Original Mix) [1999]

I was surprised to see this doesn't appear to have been shared when I searched for it.

An absolute tune from 99 from trance legends Sven Maes and Johan Gielen (aka Svenson & Gielen, Airscape, Balearic Bill, Boccaccio Life etc) that I don't think really got the attention it deserved and doesn't seem to have been on any of the major compilations CD series back in the day which is surprising.

Up there with the best of them from the year 99 IMO.

What tracks did you LOVE back in the day but can't stand or don't like as much now?

Planet Perfecto - Bullet in the Gun.

It just sounds kinda cringe to me now even though I've always loved vocal trance and still do love many classic vocal tracks from that era.

Motorcyle - When The Rush Comes.

Again, it sounds cheesy, poppy, and cringe.

Robert Miles - Children

Overplayed to death now all these years on which is part of the reason I don't enjoy listening to it so much but I just feel it sounds dated and uninteresting now.

Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel.

I actually find this track soooooo boring now that I wonder how I ever liked it, it just feels too basic and meh and it being overplayed to death doesn't help.

Nalin & Kane - Beachball

I don't know what it is about this now but when I hear it I just don't really feel like its a good track anymore and I definitely loved it back then.

Delerium - Silence (Tiesto Mix)

Over played to death and just sounds like a cheesy, commercial, pop tune on reflection but I can still listen to the Fade Sanctuary Mix as its darker, progressive, and moody which suits it better.

Brainbug - Nightmare

I just hate everything about that Pizzicato sound and the track sounding like the theme to a cheesy B movie horror film.

Everytime I hear the crisp, clear, polished sound of modern trance I instantly dislike it, and I don't know why. Anyone else feel the same?

Its weird because something being "crisp" and "clear" should be a good thing but as soon as I hear that crisp, clear, polished sound of modern trance I instantly dislike it and cannot listen to it and usually don't get beyond the intro of a song before turning it off.

Even when I give a song a chance and a full play it never appeals to me.

I've tried and tried and tried to listen to different artists from OG's from back in the day who are still putting out trance music now to new producers that everyone claims are worth listening to and I feel the same about all of it.

Even when listening to remastered versions of old classics where the track has been kept true the the original I feel the same, something about that crisp sound just doesn't work for me.

Add in to the fact so much of new trance sounds generic and samey doesn't really help but there is definitely something about it being crisp and clear alone that makes me lose interest from the get go and I don't know why.

Anyone else feel the same and have any thoughts on why something sounder cleaner and crisper would be so offputting?

I feel like its an entire lifes mission in itself just sorting through all the endless online options offering ADHD treatment and figuring out whether they can be trusted or not.

Whenever I look at reveiews they are all over the place from glowing to a complate disaster I can never figure out who's worth giving my hard earned cash and who's a waste of time.

I feel like if I at least had a shortlist of 2-3 places that are somewhat trusted and have offered most people a good service it would make my life easier.

Important note: Someone mentioned in the comments it depends whether I am going right to choose or not but I am not going down the right to choose option, so I will be choosing the provider.

Are there any commonly used and well trusted / approved companies that this Sub, and the people in it, recommend?

I'm unclear about this and the info out there is all over the place.

The Hooj Choons official website lists Katcha 'Touched by God' as "written and produced by Bernie Hurst"...

https://www.hooj.com/hooj077.html

Hooj Choons official Bandcamp page says "Written and produced by Jerry Dickens" aka Red Jerry the co-founder of Hooj Choons the label...

https://hoojchoons.bandcamp.com/album/touched-by-god-1

Katchas Discog page entry lists Katcha as "Jerry Dickens" (Red Jerry)...

https://www.discogs.com/artist/1670-Red-Jerry

Whereas Berrnies Discog page doesn't mention him being Katcha / involved with Katcha at all...

https://www.discogs.com/artist/39299-Bernie-Hurst

But under a producer alias name of "DVK" it states that DVK is believed to be "Dick Van Kock, likely to be an alias of Katcha (Bernie Hurst)".

https://www.discogs.com/artist/296056-DVK

So what is the truth, who is Katcha? Is it Jerry or Bernie or both?

Or did it just become a catch all name for either of them or anyone else involved with production and engineering work at Hooj Choons to put out tracks (well 1 single track and a few remixes) perhaps?

I bet someone here knows for sure.
