When did chemist shops start to be commonly called pharmacies in the UK?
This came up on a FB post, googled it but I can't find an answer. When did the word pharmacy start to replace chemist in everyday language?
I don't mean when the official name changed, I'm talking about the colloquial expression for them. Anecdotally I only ever hear older people (60+) call them chemists so I'm guessing it's a few decades.
