USS California (BB-44) showing the collision damage in ABSD-1 Floating Dry Dock at Espiritu Santo, New Hebrides, between September 1st and 10th, 1944.

Seven crewmen aboard California were killed in the accident. The repair ship USS Briareus (AR-12) can be seen in the first two pictures.

Note the tracked crane labeled "USS ABSD-1" in the last two pictures.
