Be thankful for what you have. From car dwelling to homeless.

I've been active here for some time. I've had vehicle issues multiple times. I've tried desperately to fix my issues. This time it looks like im out of the game. It looks like im about to be homeless. I'm fortunate enough to have a high paying job (for me) starting on the 3rd of August. Orientation is Thursday. It's about an hour away from where I am now. My kids are 45 miles (4 hour bike ride) away from the job. I think I'm about to work and cycle back to my kids on the weekends. Get a cheap motel room. Or an airbnb. I'm writing this because I've seen so much doom and gloom here. Be so thankful for what you have, because I promise you there is someone who would die for what you have. I promise you that if you stay focused and adaptable you will make it where you want to be. https://m.youtube.com/@crazy4carcamping

Metamorphosis in #CarLife. Change. Adapt. Grow.

As we creep closer to summer, I find myself getting closer to my two-year anniversary.

Two years.

Two years of living in some sort of vehicle.

I know some people would look at this situation and only see the hard parts. The struggle. The uncertainty. The things I don't have. They aren't here by choice. I get it.

But honestly…

I have loved it.

I've lived in a nice SUV. I've lived in old clunkers. I've had vehicles break down. I even burnt down one of my sedans.

And somehow, through all of it, I love it.

This week I have to fix my wheel bearings, because if I don't…

I will literally be out on the streets.

But this lifestyle taught me to live on the edge. To scrape by. To figure things out. To make something work when the odds aren't always in my favor.

I've fallen asleep to beautiful sunsets. I've felt the heat of summer. I've endured the cold of winter.

And I loved it all.

Some of you may recognize me from this community. I've shared parts of my life here, and on YouTube.

I've always been open about my situation.

And the biggest part of this journey has been my three beautiful kids.

For two years, we have had adventures together.

We've stayed in yurts, cabins, and hotels. We've gone tent camping. We've spent weekends at the beach.

We've made memories that we will carry with us forever.

I know some people have had negative things to say, but honestly…

I believe I have given my kids something special.

They got to experience adventure.

They got to see that happiness doesn't always come from having the biggest house or the most stuff.

They got to see their dad show up.

But in life, things change.

I honestly thought I would be doing this for many years.

I thought this would be my life.

But sometimes the path we imagine for ourselves isn't the path we end up taking.

It has become clear to me that my children need me in a different way.

For their safety and their well-being, I need to get them full-time.

I won't come here and write a victim story. I won't air out relationship problems. I won't turn this into a place to talk about someone else.

This isn't about that.

This is about my kids being with someone who will take care of them.

I need to get an apartment.

It might take six months. It might take a year.

I don't have a lot of money, but I know how to make things happen.

I've been doing that for two years.

And honestly…

I am excited.

I'm excited to sit in an apartment and play video games with my kids.

I'm excited to continue our adventures in a new way.

This lifestyle has taught me so much about myself and about life.

I learned I don't need a lot of things.

I don't need to fill an apartment with stuff just because I have the space.

I can live simply.

Maybe I'll build my own furniture out of reclaimed wood.

Because let's be honest…

All a single dad really needs is his kids, and maybe a 75-inch TV- With a few beers.

I'm writing this because I needed to talk about it.

I don't have a lot of people around me supporting me anymore.

I wanted to share this before I step away for a while. Just awhile though-

Because someday…

In 11 years…

When my children are adults…

When they have their own lives and their own adventures…

I will be an urban car dweller again.

Guys... I'm a FREAK...

I'm sitting here in a hotel... a nice hotel... with my 3 kids... I get them on the weekends. We often stay in hotels, airbnbs, and camp. They're in their beds. I'm sitting on my laptop. I'm watching a fellow youtuber. She's in the back of her Camry. I notice the look of the backseat with the seats down. I get an instant feeling of longing for my backseat LOLLL I'd rather be in my car than this hotel!!!! lolll
