Hello!

I rescued two hermit crabs last week, ended up getting a 50 gallon terrarium and stand the same day. Bought a lot of emergency supplies to set my terrarium up, and I’ve added 3 additional small crabs with the two rescues.

My substrate is playsand, coco coir, and peat moss that I tried to mix very very thoroughly. It is between 5-6 inches deep and has sand castle density texture.

I have two pools, both with a running micro pump. The one on the left is saltwater, the one on the right is freshwater. The crabs seem to be enjoying them both on their own.

They have been climbing their vines and trellis, but haven’t made it to the hammock yet. They are actively eating out of their food dish. Today I began adding fresh veggies, tonight I’ll either scramble or boil an egg.

I removed a heating unit from above the grass hammock, and I placed my heating mat from behind their hide horizontally more centered similarly to a freshwater aquarium.

I’ve got quite a few things in my cart to order for enrichment as well as food and supplements.

As of right now are there any immediate changes I need to make that are causing my crabs to be in harm or danger?
