AITAH for throwing the meat out?
My father doesn’t know how to thaw meat. I don’t know either.
Anyways, at 8 am he left the meat next to the kitchen sink in the plastic container it came in. Then he went to work.
I saw the meat, and I knew that that is not safe, so I put it in a bowl under running water.
Other than running it under cold tap water, I didn’t know how long or what to do after. I wasn’t prepared.
So, after he came back home (3 pm) and went straight to nap even after seeing the meat still outside, I proceeded to google if it’s safe, and google said no; so, I proceeded to throw it out, then wash and sanitize the area.
Obviously, I feel bad, but I even asked google what to do: should I leave it in the sink for after he wakes up or take care of it now.
Google said to take care of it now, and so I did. After he woke up, I let him know and I apologized, and he proceeded to tell me that I should ask google everything and do whatever google tells me to do. He proceeded to tell me even after I said it was my mistake that the meat was for him and that I shouldn’t have touched it. But I said that he’s contaminating the kitchen and I eat from it, and it led to an argument. I even offered to go buy some right now, but he proceeded to tell me that I should get a job.
Then I tried to learn how to thaw, and I was reading out loud about how you have three different options, one of them being putting it in cold running water, then he said, “Does it even make sense to put the frozen meat in cold water?”
And I tried to reassure him that it was my fault for leaving it for too long, and it led to another argument. Then I lost it and showed some anger, and he kicked me out.
Am I the asshole?
