I won’t get into who’s at fault for the divorce, but here’s the situation.

Background: I’m currently navigating a divorce in California with a child on the way. The marriage was very short (about a month), but there is a significant income disparity. I am the higher earner. She is on a visa, so we initially rushed the marriage so that I could sponsor her green card.

Child Support Discussion: My ex-wife is aggressively pursuing maximum support through what appear to be bad-faith filings:

  • Income Inflation: On her FL-150, she claimed my income is nearly double my actual earnings. I have provided pay stubs and tax returns to refute this.
  • Childcare Costs: She is demanding I split a $5,200/month private nanny expense (40 hours/week) while seeking full custody.

How do courts handle "unreasonable" childcare? In general, how do I "set the tone" now so I’m not litigating every minor expense for the next 18 years?
