HSV on Fingers

So i just find out you can catch HSV on your fingers, its called herpetic whitlow.😪 So I can't even finger a girl without being worried. 🤦‍♂️

The more i learn about hsv the more i become scared of it. Why do the Medicare industry don't have it mandatory on the testing panel. Now alot of people catch it unknowingly which changes their life forever. Sigh

HSV 2

SO THIS IS FROM CHATGPT, I AM STILL TRYING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS HSV 2. SO TO MY UNDERSTANDING CONDOMS DO NO COMPLETELY PREVENT IT. SIGH.

I WAS WONDERING WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF GETTING IT FROM A INFECTED GIRL, FOR ME I HAVE ONLY HSV 1.

Yes, **it is possible to acquire HSV-2 on the base of the penis**.

The reason is that HSV-2 is a **skin-to-skin transmitted infection**. It does not only infect the tip of the penis or areas covered by a condom. If infected skin on your partner’s genital area rubs against **uncovered skin at the base of your penis, pubic area, or nearby skin**, transmission can occur.

A few important details:

* A condom **does protect the skin it covers**, so it lowers the risk.

* The **base of the penis may not be covered**, depending on the condom fit and how much skin contact occurs.

* Transmission is more likely when your partner is **shedding the virus** (during an outbreak or without visible symptoms).

* Many people with HSV-2 never notice where they were infected because the first signs can be mild or absent.

So the answer is: **yes, the base of the penis is one of the possible areas where HSV-2 could enter**, but using condoms consistently and avoiding sex during symptoms can greatly reduce the chance.

Since your girlfriend has **no symptoms**, do you know if her HSV-2 was confirmed by a **positive swab from a sore** or only by a **blood IgG test**? That affects how certain the diagnosis is.
