Anyone experience agitation and insomnia only after weight training?
I'm an experienced powerlifter with 5+ years of training. About a year ago, after going through a period of extreme stress, I started getting severe agitation, restlessness, and insomnia whenever I lift weights. I even took 6 months completely off from lifting to try to calm down my nervous system, but the problem returned as soon as I started training again.
I've tried L-theanine, ashwagandha, magnesium, melatonin, propranolol, diet changes, and light cardio, but nothing helps.
What's strange is that when I don't train, I feel completely normal, relaxed, happy, no anxiety, and I can sleep 12+ hours without any issues. My doctor suggested depression, but that doesn't fit at all since the symptoms only appear after training. T3, T4, and all other blood work are within normal ranges.
Has anyone experienced something similar or found an explanation?
