Drawing on iPad sucks! Who’s with me?

What are your thoughts on drawing on iPad using the Apple Pencil and what other tablet do you use, if any?

Drawing on iPad with just the Apple Pencil takes so much time to get used to, if you ever do at all. The glass screen just sucks as there is not much friction between the screen and pencil. I know some screen protectors can somewhat help, but I’ve heard a lot of them still kind of suck.

I have an XP-pen magic drawing pad and love it compared to the iPad!

Toxicity in a tranquil environment…

Okay so I kind of know what I must do. But I want to post this because I really want to hear your thoughts and ideas. Here’s the story…

So for the past few years, my sibling has been living with my SO and I. Now let me rewind a bit.

My sibling and I had crappy parents. They were alcoholics and fought a lot. They subjected us to their arguing and said a bunch of stuff that shouldn’t be said to kids. Our childhood was screwed up. When I was a teen, I found myself in an abusive relationship with our neighbor. I began distancing myself from my family. I was isolated from my family, especially my sibling. We went our separate ways for a while after high school. In college, we talked but weren’t close as I was still hanging around my abuser.

Some years later, our mother passed away. My sibling was not around for that. Our mother was afraid of my sibling; mother had paranoia and anxiety and such due to the alcohol abuse and her own struggles throughout her life.

After our mother died, i started therapy, cut ties with abuser and I reconnected with my sibling because I found out they were going to marry someone and move to another country. I thought to myself that “I’d never see them again” and wanted to make amends for the things I did wrong in our relationship over the years. So we slowly made amends and I got to tell my sibling about my abuse, which was a big step in what I thought to be healing our relationship.

Long story short, their plans to be married and move to another country didn’t work out. My sibling divorced 3 months in.

My sibling has been diagnosed with ocd, anxiety, depression, and who really knows what else is there. They’ve been in therapy for over 10 years. They had lots of shitty things happen to them throughout the years by many different people and therefore have trust issues. They are basically letting their anxiety control every aspect of their life. Although they’ve been in therapy for many years, they show no signs of actually growing as a person. Therapy should be there to help one grow; not just be a venting area. At least this is how I see therapy. You gotta get uncomfortable sometimes and that might be awkward, but you just gotta do it in order to grow. I know this could apply to me regarding this situation as well..

My sibling is stuck in their own little narrow-minded world and doesn’t socialize much at all. The ocd and anxiety eats them alive and idk what they are going to do if anything to improve themself. It seems to me like they just don’t think there is anything there to improve. They are always the victim and they are “never in the wrong” and never apologize for anything they do that might be upsetting. To be honest, they are a pretty toxic person.

So to fast forward to present day.. My SO and I have given my sibling a place to live for the past few years so they aren’t homeless. They were living with our dad prior to getting married and moving to another country (before those plans fell through), but he kicked them out. I took my sibling in. My sibling has access to anything they could ever want here at my house. They have access to my vehicle when they need to go somewhere. I’ve even given them a car key. They have their own room, access to utilities and a roof over their head. Plus we give them $200 usd every month to help support them. We’ve tried to create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment but my sibling stays stuck in their own narrow-minded ways. No signs of growth.

In recent times, they’ve bad-mouthed me and my family; and my SO says that my sibling saying the bad things about their kid is crossing a line. I agree… however, I need to build up some courage to speak to my sibling about the crappy things they’ve said and done.

My sibling has tried to set some boundaries IN MY house but my SO says it doesn’t work like that because it’s our house and the sibling is a guest. I also agree with that. But it comes down to me needing to speak to my sibling. I am somewhat afraid to speak to them because I am not good with words. I lack the confidence. I have always been a people pleaser my whole life. I began therapy in 2023 and started working on myself. I began to improve but still can’t move past the fear of conflict. My therapist says I need to embrace conflict. I agree. How do I get past the point of being afraid to talk to my sibling? Im just so afraid of the conflict part because I freeze up and the words don’t come out right after the fear sets in.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. If you comment with a kind word or supportive idea, thank you very much. Please continue reading to understand more.

To continue the story, recently, my sibling has been doing things that come off as petty. They are leaving little messes around the house to show their dismay (my guess is because they asked us not to leave the pet food bowls on the floor numerous times). We don’t want the animals eating on our dinner table (that’s is the only other place besides the floor to put them up out of the way). So we decided to leave the bowls on the floor, in a location where they can’t be easily tripped over. My sibling is upset about this and appears to be trying to “prove a point”. A point they don’t even have. I plan on seeing where this goes for the next week and if no improvement, i am going to need to discuss this with them and set boundaries of my own. I plan on taking the car keys from them if this crap doesn’t change. Slowly taking away the things we supply them that they take for granted. After all, it is my house and they shouldn’t be telling me what to do especially after all we’ve done for them. Ultimately, if they don’t like the way things are, then they can move out. How do I get past the fear of speaking my peace?

Any ideas on what you would do in a situation like this? Everyone I’ve ever talked to about this says the sibling needs to go. Thank you so much for reading.

Carri’s Post Office - Quick Review

Just a quick review on Catto’s Post Office for the Switch.

I bought the game yesterday and began playing it. It is a cute game, however, very quick. I think it is meant for younger players. It is 5.49 USD on the Nintendo E-shop. The gameplay is about an hour long total. The characters are all cats and they are cute. The dialogue and conversations with the characters tend to lack punctuation.

Anything else you want to know?

Edit: I hate auto-correct on iPhone! I know my title is spelt incorrectly.

What’s it with older “born again” ladies and their inappropriate comments that they make?

Like are they holding it back all the time so they just finally burst and have to say something insensitive or rude, joking or not?

Examples would be that I have two born again Christians in my workplace.

They both “try” not to swear on a daily basis and try to be “good”. However, sometimes comments they make, make me question if they are really “born again”.

One time, one said something about a key party when someone said something else.

Then, currently, I am just had retinal detachment surgery. The other lady and my husband were the only ones in the office and she had to make a comment about “stopping with the rough sex”. Like what the hell is it with these people?
