Finally got my first Ubiquiti Neighbor...

I live in a typical suburban neighborhood and the housing density is moderate. I would occasionally scan the radios just to see how congested things are and I've never seen another Ubiquiti until now. It's always Eero, Wyze, Google, Arris or Netgear.

I always wondered how popular Ubiquiti really is. I know most people will happily use their ISP's router or whatever item they can buy from Amazon, but finally!

Anyone else go out of their way to dine at Rakuten Restaurants for 9%?

I shamelessly do. I'll search around until I find a really good restaurant and I'll go back a lot lol. 9% back with the Amex Gold is a good deal, covering the full bill. I haven't been stiffed by Rakuten yet, not one time. The points are usually confirmed within five days of dining.

AMG GT63 Dealership Oil Change Invoice and Undercarriage Photos

I have prepaid maintenance, but I paid for an oil change at 800 miles just because I know most of the wear occurs early on (dealer captured a sample for me to send to Blackstone Labs). Attached is the invoice and the cost was under $350. To me, that's reasonable considering I heard horror stories of 992 911 owners paying $1k for an oil change at the dealer.

Also, the tech took a maintenance inspection video. I'll post the entire video later as he went over the hydraulic lines for the suspension and rear steering valve, but here are screen grabs of the filter and drain plug location, which are hidden behind a metal skid plate with tons of screws. Not sure how DIY this is trying to put that skid plate back on by yourself.

Never gets old staring at this (also, no night package and 20" wheels)

I absolutely love this car and this paint. I've never had so many random compliments on a car before. People will drive by on the freeway, honk and give me the thumbs up, lol. Everyone stares. 911s and Vettes are everywhere where I live, but not these cars. I've only seen one other on the road, it's great and people don't recognize this car when they see it. It's great.

One thing that I really like is that it doesn't have the night package and it's on 20" wheels. Almost every car for sale right now has the night package or night package plus and is on 21" wheels. I think the silver wheels and silver trim goes perfectly with this paint. Also, I'm really surprised by the 20" Hankooks. I didn't know what to expect, but they are quiet and relatively comfortable. I know the OEM 21's are Pilot Sports and they can be noisy and drone on the freeway. Unless you plan on tracking this, I really see no point in getting the 21s. These are quieter, more comfortable and cost half as much to replace (and you buy all seasons in this size versus the 21s). They look good, too, for the size.

Matte Paint Spray Sealants

I just got my first car that has matte paint. I didn't know what to expect and/or how to care for it, but YouTube has answers for everything. One of the products I use a lot of are spray sealants, whether as a quick detailer or standalone silicone sealant (I no longer "wax" my cars). I previously used CarPro products and they worked great for my metallic-painted cars.

Well, I wanted to find something for my Magno paint and there weren't many choices. Here are my thoughts:

1. CarPro's MadMatte wasn't my favorite. It actually darkened the matte paint a little upon application. It eventually went away, but it was a little alarming at first. The results were fine but I would not use this as a quick detailer as it didn't feel slick enough to safely use in that manner. It should probably only be used after a thorough washing.

2. Gyeon's Cure Matte was really good. It seemed like it was the most serious, for lack of a better word. It actually had the same solvent smell as their matte ceramic coating, which I had previously used and was great by the way. You just got the impression that this product will really last and protect. It didn't alter the look upon application. It can be used as a quick detailer, but it's better used as either a standalone sealant or a maintenance cover over your ceramic coating.

3. Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte really surprised me. I know this brand can be controversial since it's so ubiquitous these days, but this one actually made my car look the best. It's a great quick detailer and can be used to gently clean away dust and other contaminants. It also enhanced the satin sheen of the paint the most.

  1. I know Beasley makes a lot of products specifically for matte paint, but I avoided it because there was a lot of overlap in their product line and I just wanted something that was simple and to the point.

Still can’t believe I own this…

I got an opportunity to buy what is a unicorn GT 63 build with Hyper Blue Magno and Sage Grey interior. It was a custom order that was backed out of. I was most worried about the interior as it did not look good from the dealer photos but it’s epic in person. This car is a riot. The last true analog AMG.

Anyone care to share recent ‘A’ and ‘B’ service costs? Can you also share your general location?
