I hate it I hate it. Just because your show is a comedy or cartoon doesn't mean you can't have a moment of seriousness or sincerity without some goofy moment after to cut down on that moment. Let the moment sit, let it happen, it's not a bad thing I swear, your show will be BETTER for it.

Gravity Falls (Not What He Seems) - To me, Gravity Falls is a masterclass of animation, storytelling, and comedy. Perfect in almost every way. We spend a season and a half following Dipper as he tries to crack the code of the journals, Gravity Falls, and its author. So many clues, hints, theories, people going crazy over this because it was just that good. It all builds up to the mid-season finale, Not What He Seems, and after a fight with Grunkle Stan thinking he's been a villain the whole time, a moment of sincerity, and what looks like the destruction of the world, we finally get the reveal of who the author of the journals was, Grunkle Stan's brother. If the episode had ended there it would've been a perfect end to this long running mystery. But this moment gets cut off by a "Isn't this the part where one of us pass out?" joke. BUT FOR WHY? JUST CUT TO THE CREDITS THE CREDITS ITSELF WAS SO SOMBER TOO?

The Office (Business School) - The famous art show scene. Pam puts her trust and faith on her coworkers to come to her art show exhibit. With most of them missing the show and one of them who did come (Oscar) downplaying her art, Pam was feeling like a failure. At the final minute, Micheal comes in to her surprise and praises her work, specifically her painting of the office building itself. It's a tender moment that shows that as silly and goofy as Micheal is, he is good natured and cares for his workers. Pam, in tears, goes in for a hug and for a moment it's such a heartfelt scene. Until a "what's that in your pocket?" joke cuts the moment short. This would've been a perfect moment to shift Micheal to more a father figure or role model of sorts, but this boner joke was seemingly more important than that.
