Help rehome Spice! Vancouver, Washington (USA)

Hello!

One of my boys passed away a couple of days ago, leaving his brother Spice. I’ve kept rats for years now but recently developed a chronic illness, and I just can’t care for rats like I used to. Which is why I would like to find him a home with rattie friends rather than finding new cage mates.

If anyone can help, or knows where I can rehome him in the area, It would be so appreciated!! Portland small animal rescue’s say they can’t take him because I’m in a different state /:

Spice is one year old, shy but super cuddly & will do a lot for a walnut. He has a constant cough since he was a baby. I took him to the vet multiple times but none of the medicines worked and the vet had no clue why he does it. I switched out food, bedding and other possible allergens but the cough/sneeze persisted. it seems to get worse when he is stressed. He is healthy otherwise, just on the chonky side.

He is not spayed.

I feed him Oxbow adult rat food. For treats he usually gets walnuts, pecans, avocado flesh, kale and fresh berries. He has aspen wood shavings atm but seemed to like kiln dried pine shavings too. He has a fancy chicken water bottle that drips into a bowl for him to drink (it doesn’t leak!!), a sputnik, and he lives in a tall ferret cage. I plan to give all these away with him if needed.
