Traveling Cross Country With Five Goldfish

Hi! Last summer my family won 6 tiny goldfish from the fair, and although we sadly lost one, we now have five extremely hearty and happy goldfish. They each range from 3-6 inches long and they're pretty healthy.

Next month we're relocating from MD to CA by car and need to figure out the best way to get them there safely. Claude and ChatGPT seem to think I can put them in a plastic storage Tote container with a battery operated bubbler and they'll be fine as long as they're in the car with A/C and they come into hotels with us each night. I wanted to verify that with actual goldfish owners so I don't pour them into a plastic box and end up with five dead fish in California. Any advice on getting them there safely?
