How is Plague Warden Balanced?
I saw Tainted Grail when it released, and thought "cool, but Ill wait a while for patches and expansions." So now, about a year after release I am playing the game. I was enjoying it, first I had it on normal. Once I got some gear and levels I pumped it up to Veteran and was having a good time. Not too hard, not too easy. I had to actually try but nothing cheap or rage inducing. So, I am on Area 2 and did the quest you get from the hospital that gives you the Red Death tree, and I get Plague Warden.
How the hell is this ok? 3 points and you are invincible? At first I thought my game was bugged or It had gone down to easy or normal, then I remembered I had put points into it. NOTHING can hurt you anymore. This isn't balanced at all. Am I missing something? Honestly, what were the devs thinking with this skill? I could understand if it was like nothing can hit you for more than 55% in 1 hit, but 25%? Everything is trivial now, its pretty much not fun.
So we all know the reply: "Don't take the skill then" But its in the game. Its not a glitch, its not an exploit. Its a valid skill. Why wouldn't I?
Anyway... am I missing something here? Later on, are you attacked by multiple enemies that all hit for hunderds or thousands of damage thus the skill is needed? Can some things bypass the damage reduction? Or was it just put in to make the game super easy and anyone wanting some difficulty can't take it? I am of the train of thought that a game should be difficult on hard when you play with good gear and skills. this reminds me of like 2011 saying Black Smithing made Skyrim too easy (you can just rush to get Ebony Gear early) and people replying "Just don't take Blacksmithing then. Or Alchemy. Or any useful skill"
Is there a mod to nerf this skill down so its like a nice skill but not utterly OP?
