EU Proposes Tariff-Free Access for 80% of Armenian Exports

Ursula von der Leyen: The EU proposes introducing autonomous trade measures that would liberalize nearly 80% of Armenian exports to the European Union.

If adopted, around 80% of trade between Armenia and the EU would no longer be subject to customs duties, marking a significant step toward deeper economic integration between Armenia and the EU.

Mongol Conquests Atlas | Ararat Petrosyan

I'm building an independent Mongol Conquests Atlas as part of a larger historical web atlas project:

I'm currently looking for high-quality historical datasets, GIS data, maps, primary sources, and academic resources related to the Mongol conquests.

I'm especially interested in:

  • campaign routes and timelines;
  • battles and sieges (with locations if available);
  • historical administrative boundaries;
  • cities conquered or destroyed;
  • troop movements;
  • historical roads and trade routes;
  • archaeological or historical GIS datasets;
  • digitized historical maps;
  • open data that can be integrated into a public atlas.

If you know of university projects, digital humanities initiatives, repositories, or even excellent books that could help build an accurate historical GIS, I would greatly appreciate your recommendations.

Thank you in advance!

Seeking feedback from geographers and GIS professionals on an atlas project

I’m building an independent public web atlas project and would really appreciate advice from geographers, GIS people, historians, cartographers, and anyone interested in spatial data.

The long-term idea is to build a source-aware public atlas system: not just maps with points, but map rooms where events, sources, boundaries, routes, heritage records, conflict data, displacement, disasters, and transport layers are kept separate and readable.

I would love feedback on:
- cartographic readability;
- layer design;
- historical boundary presentation;
- popup / record design;
- what datasets I should add;
- what feels confusing or too heavy;
- how to make the maps more academically useful without overwhelming public users.

Main atlas pages:

Special historical map:

My main question:

If you were reviewing this as a geography/GIS project, what would you improve first?

I am especially interested in advice on historical boundaries, dense point layers, disaster/live data design, transport layers, and how to present uncertainty without making the maps unreadable.

Thank you in advance for any criticism, suggestions, datasets, or design advice.
