Project Golf 8 GTE Clubsport OEM+ update: OSRAM dynamic mirror indicators and rear debadge

A bit of a random one, but another small update on my OEM+ Clubsport conversion…

The OSRAM Dynamic Mirror Indicators are now fitted:

Black Edition
Genuine OSRAM units Volkswagen Zubehör

I forgot to take proper before and after photos, but the difference is big. The indicator itself is now dynamic and a lot brighter, while the casing is blacked out and blends into the black mirror caps much better when it is turned off. It also fits the blacked out IQ lights because of the Black Edition option my car has.

This upgrade has a bit of a bad reputation, but I think that mainly comes from people using the cheap AliExpress versions, which looks alot worse than the original indicators. The OSRAM version is completely different in terms of quality, brightness and fitment. The animation is the same style as the dynamic indicators in the IQ lights, so it looks like it belongs on the car.

In my opinion, this is a proper upgrade.

I also removed the rear GTE badge.
It is only a small change, but I think the rear looks much cleaner now and it puts more focus on the Clubsport exhaust and diffuser.

Let me know what you guys think.

Project Golf 8 GTE OEM+ update: Eibach 30/30 and Clubsport exhaust fitted

The Eibach Pro-Kit 30/30 and OEM Clubsport rear silencer are now fitted.

After lowering, I performed the DCC adaptation in the shop using OBDeleven. Comfort and Sport still feel different, although the difference is slightly smaller. It feels more planted while remaining refined definitely an upgrade in ride quality. (It is alot lower tho so im still a little scared)

The Clubsport silencer is a little louder, especially on a cold start, but while driving you barely notice it. It’s mainly a visual upgrade, and it looks sick. I can upload a cold-start clip if anyone is interested.

The only issue is the automatic manoeuvre braking occasionally activating on steep inclines. I’ve disabled it while I find out whether it can be calibrated for the lower ride height.

Let me know what you guys think!

Next up: OEM Clubsport rear spoiler.

Curious what kind of electric range everyone is getting from their Golf 8 GTE.

Mine is currently showing 59 km (37 miles) at 100% charge. Seems pretty decent, but I’m wondering what others are getting, especially during summer.

Project Golf 8 GTE Clubsport OEM+ update: 19” Estoril wheels are on. next step, lowering/Clubsport Exhaust

A small update on my OEM+ Clubsport conversion.

The 19” Estoril style wheels are finally fitted:
19x8J ET42
235/35 R19 Continental SportContact 7 FR

I’m really happy with how the fitment turned out. The wheels sit almost perfectly flush while still staying inside the arches.

Next up:
OEM Clubsport rear spoiler
OEM Clubsport rear silencer
Lowering springs

I’m currently deciding between 20 mm front / 30 mm rear or 30/30.

What would you choose based on the photos?

Continental SportContact 7 or Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 for Golf 8 GTE?

I’m choosing new tyres for my Golf 8 GTE in 235/35 R19.

I drive fairly sporty and want good steering feel and grip, especially in typical Dutch wet weather. However, I also don’t want excessive cabin noise or a very harsh ride.

I’m currently deciding between the Continental SportContact 7 and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6.

Which one would you choose, and why?

Project Golf 8 GTE Clubsport OEM+ conversion update: Which wheels should I choose?

Hey everyone,
I could use some opinions on the next step of my OEM+ Golf 8 GTE Clubsport conversion. (My car)

I’m currently deciding between these two 19” Estoril-style wheels:

  1. Full gloss black.
  2. Diamond-cut / gloss black

Which set would you choose for this build, and why?

Project Golf 8 GTE Clubsport OEM+ conversion update: Diffuser installed

First update on the project!

Yesterday, I installed the genuine Clubsport rear diffuser myself. It was a bit more work than I expected, mainly because you need to use quite a lot of force while still being careful and precise when removing the original diffuser.

The fitment turned out really well, though, and it already makes a big difference to the rear of the car.
For now, the original GTE rear silencer is still fitted.

The genuine Clubsport rear silencer will be installed on August 12. After that, the Clubsport spoiler and lowering springs will follow.

Project Golf 8 GTE Clubsport OEM+ conversion starts now

A while ago I posted my Golf 8 GTE here while it was still completely stock. (My Stock GTE Post)

The plan now is to build a Golf 8 GTE Clubsport using genuine Volkswagen Clubsport parts.

This week I started collecting the parts for the OEM+ conversion. I first got the idea after seeing a guy from Finland do something similar (Link) with his yellow GTE. Apart from his build, I haven’t really seen anyone else attempt it.

I’m mainly posting this for anyone who might be interested in doing the same conversion in the future, since there isn’t much information online.

So far I’ve collected:

  • Genuine Golf 8 GTI Clubsport rear diffuser
  • Genuine Golf 8 GTI Clubsport rear silencer with the original exhaust tips
  • Genuine Golf 8 GTI Clubsport spoiler (will be painted in Reflex Silver)

What will be done:

  • Lowering set Eibach Volkswagen Golf VIII (CD1) Pro-Kit (30MM front 30MM Rear)
  • (Maybe) Stage 1 ECU and DSG (if possible)

The goal is to keep everything looking as OEM as possible. I’m not trying to make it look like a fake GTI.
Just think the Clubsport rear end suits the GTE really well.

I added some photos of the parts, please Let me know your thoughts.
