[REQ] ($250CAD) - (#Lethbridge, AB, Canada) (Repay 09/04 $350CAD) (PayPal, E-transfer)

Hey everyone,

I was recently laid off, and while I got new work very quickly, I was not able to complete my split rent payment this month. I didn't have enough for hours for EI, nor did I qualify for severance as a less than 3 month employee.

I receive a partial (not a full 2x40hr week cheque) but more substantial 49hr cheque on the 21st of this month that will cover the majority of what I owe, but I'm still slightly below what I require. I would appreciate anyone helping me bridge the gap in the interim, and can provide proof of what I owe, hours on my next cheque and anything else you'd like.

Thank you anyone for considering.

[REQ] ($250CAD) - (#Lethbridge, AB, Canada) (Repay $320 08/21) (PAYPAL, ETransfer)

Hello everyone,

I previously requested a larger amount, and while my situation hasn't changed, I'm attempting to have a more attractive offer to a potential lender here. I was recently laid off with my entire team, and while I found a new job very quickly, the first full cheque isn't until the 21st. I did not have enough hours for Employment Insurance in my province, and had only been with my previous role for a month, so I did not qualify for severance.

I'm just attempting to make a good faith payment on my rent this month, as normally I split it into two $500 payments but due to my situation, it's looking like I'll miss the first one. I would then pay it off on the 21st along with the loan. I can then split my rent the next month on my next cheque on the 4th, or just pay it outright. Probably a little more information than needed, but wanted to overshare in the hopes it shows good intentions.

Thanks for anyone's time!

[REQ] PAYPAL, ETRANSFER, $530 CAD | (#LETHBRIDGE, ALBERTA, CANADA) | To repay $250 August 21st, $300 September 4th

Hello everyone,

I recognize this is a bigger ask for a first loan, but don't have great options at the moment. I recently lost my role, and fairly quickly found a new one, but I had only been there for a month and did not qualify for severance or have enough hours for Employment Insurance in my province. I am again working full time, but won't receive my first cheque until the 21st. I split my rent and am hoping to not be a situation where I need to skip a payment or slip further behind.

I appreciate anyone's time!

why your rogers bill literally never goes down without winback offers (from a freshly laid off sales rep)

(repost from my original in r/rogers)

Restructured for you guys; honestly sitting here looking at my severance paperwork and just feeling sick about how much we were forced to squeeze people.

Every single time you call in expecting to lower your bill because inflation is eating everyone alive, the person on the other end is literally fighting for their job to not give you a break.

At Rogers sales, we had this metric breathed down our necks daily: a mandatory $15 average increase in Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) across every single call. Doesn't matter if you called in because you lost your job or you're a senior on a fixed income. If an agent’s calls consistently averaged under that $15 bump? You get pulled into a manager's office, put on a performance plan, and eventually kicked to the curb. Which brings me to where I am today I guess lol.

So yeah, we were basically trained to treat speed upgrades like a magic trick.

Customer: "Hey my bill is $110, I can't afford this, can we drop my speed?"

The playbook: "Well actually, for just $15 more I can put you on the 1.5 Gigabit plan so you get way better value!"

It makes zero sense when you step back and look at it. People who barely stream Netflix being pushed onto gigabit speeds just so the agent can show a $15 MRR delta on their dashboard. We were actively told to avoid pointing out actual downgrade options or cheaper legacy packages. If someone refused an upgrade, you had to try cramming in tech add-ons or streaming bundles before hanging up, just to keep your average from dipping.

Anyway, if you're trying to deal with this mess next time you call, a few things to keep in mind:

First, remember the rep isn't necessarily a bad person, they're just terrified of getting fired. But don't let them trick you into a speed bump you don't need.

Just stick to your guns. Say "I do not want faster internet, I want a lower price point, please transfer me to Retentions or Loyalty." If they still refuse to drop the rate or pretend cheaper tiers don't exist, bring up the CCTS (Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services). The moment you say "I'm going to document this for a CCTS complaint regarding deceptive upselling," the tone shifts pretty fast.

Technically this whole setup straddles a really ugly line with the CRTC Internet Code and Section 52 of the Competition Act (the parts about misleading marketing practices), but these big telecom companies just build the compliance risk into their business model because the revenue from artificial upsells heavily outweighs the slap on the wrist.

Anyway... rant over. I put a link in my Reddit profile if anyone feels like tossing a coffee my way while I figure out my next move, but mostly just wanted to get this off my chest so people know what game is actually being played when they call support.
