Questions about the ambiance and engine sounds in Most Wanted

So I played Most Wanted and out of curiosity, I decided to turn off all music. When I did, I hear what sounds like cars racing in the distance and police sirens

1)Are they supposed to represent racers in the distance/ other parts of the city doing their own thing? They kinda sound like the sound designers recorded drag cars racing and added them or they went to a racetrack as some of them sound like NASCAR V8s and straight piped Gallardos

2)Also am I the only one just finding out that the AI police cars actually have engine sounds?

IDK i just find it cool but you can't hear it as your car is louder. I discovered it as when I heard what sounds like a V8 when running from heat 1 cops,so I turned off my engine volume and I noticed that the heat 1-4 cops have the same engine sound file as the upgraded DB7,Monaro VXR and Pontiac GTO(for_must_b) whereas the pursuit Corvette uses "Corv_Z06" sound file. The supercharged rhinos use the upgraded Ford Mustang engine sound

  1. How did they get Fast and Furious engine sounds? as in the game files there's a "2F2F_S2000" which is likely Suki's S2000 or Brian's Evo and "2F2F_WRX" which is Roman Pearce's Eclipse. Also the leftover R34 GTR sound file sounds like the 2F2F Skyline GTR

Sorry if these questions seem stupid, I'm just curious about the engine sounds

How would Spectacular Spiderman fair against 90s Venom?

I've never seen anyone compare them in a fight. I was just curious who would win. I'd say Spectacular narrowly wins as while he's not as experienced as 90s Spiderman ,he's still very intelligent and as we see in his show, when he's outmatched he can use his wits to win. Plus he fought a way more brutal version of Venom that nearly beat him to death several times.

But who do you think would win?

It's amazing how police chases started as nothing more than a simple arcade mechanic afterthought and ended up defining the franchise

I was going through the history of NFS games. I read that the cops in the one that started it all ,Road and Track presents: The Need for Speed were only an afterthought/bonus feature and not anything of focus(in fact due to illegal street racing at the time, the police were removed from the Japanese release). But because the sequel NFS II(1997) was criticized for removing police chases, which proved to be so popular it led to the first game NFS 3: Hot Pursuit where the police played a major role and defined what 95% of NFS is about. In fact if you ask someone who has never played NFS,98% of them might say NFS is about “exotics and tuners running from police”.

If it wasn't for the success of NFS 3,NFS 4:High Stakes and the PS2 NFS Hot Pursuit 2,we wouldn't have gotten the best selling NFS game NFS: Most Wanted . And for those who don't know,a working title for Most Wanted during development was NFS Hot Pursuit 3

On a side note, can you guess what I was trying to recreate on slide 3

This sequence feels like Timm and Co just told the animators "Fuck the budget, just go all out". Batman Beyond is probably where the animation in the DCAU peaked, especially Return of the Joker which still holds up well to this day.

This episode was the second episode aired after the show switched from hand painted cels to digitally painted cels. The first episode to use digitally painted cels was "Eyewitness"(funny enough, I read Timm was initially strongly against digital painting for some reason).

My first UCL final was the Miracle of Istanbul. While Liverpool wasn't a solid team(they barely qualified for the UCL and gave up their lead to lose 3-2 against Chelsea in the FA cup final),it was still amazing how they overturned a 3-0 deficit to tie the match 3-3,and it was against prime AC Milan with a solid defense and various talents like rising star Kaka, some stars from the 2002 Brazil squad(Cafu,Dida etc)and one of the greatest defenders Paolo Maldini

It was the reason I started to like Liverpool. How about you, what was your first UCL final?

The first one is the HSV GTS Coupe, while it was rebadged and converted to LHD in the US market as the Pontiac GTO,it didn't do so well. In the UK it was rebadged as Vauxhall Monaro VXR. It had the same 400hp LS2 V8 from the C6 Corvette

The second one is the Ford Falcon TS50,a high performance version of the AU Ford Falcon that was sold in the Aussie market only. It was powered by the 5.0(or 5.6 with a Stroker kit) Windsor V8 producing 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque

The Skyline GTR R34 was always a forbidden fruit the US missed out on,while a handful were illegally imported by Motorex who falsified documents to make them road legal, they never passed US safety standards(kinda ironic since the Dodge Viper and Carrera GT with no safety aids was legal)and Nissan wasn't going to spend money on converting them for LHD markets. It had the RB26DETT producing 276(in reality up to 334 hp) and 289 lb-ft of torque

The EK9 Type R was exclusively sold in Japan only. If you saw any outside Japan, they were always grey market imports and it was never converted to LHD. It had an engine similar to the one used in the Integra Type R

The NA1 NSX Type R was also only sold in Japan in limited quantities, making it a unicorn. It was never exported or converted to LHD.

Hana started the trend of directly addressing the viewer in the prologue of episodes, there are several gags, such as her adjusting the camera to her height and in the crossover directly telling us "Everyone, this isn't Kira Kira a la mode,it's still Hugtto Precure, and it's about to start". In Hugtto Precure, when Hana is talking to Homare after her failed Precure transformation,Hana randomly looks at the camera and just walks up to it and presses her face on the lens much to Homare's confusion.

When she was cheering up Emiru after she fails to help, she says "heroes have to save the world without anyone ever knowing who they really are" while looking at the camera as if she's aware we know her secret.

Also in one episode, Dr Traum looks directly at the viewer and announces himself as the villain of the week and how he'll be renaming the show.

In Mahou Tsukai ,when Kana and Mayumi think Benygio is Santa, they have an imagine spot about her in a sexy Santa suit, she literally tears through the imagine spot and angrily says "Don't fantasize about me!"

In Doki Doki when Mana accidentally jumps too high in her first transformation, she looks at the viewer and says "Guess I jumped too high" also in Doki Doki, when Cure Rosetta scores a goal, she says "Goal!",then looks at the camera and says "or so it's called". Occasionally Ai-Chan will float by looking at the viewer too

In Heartcatch,Cobraja presses his face on the camera and threatens to turn kids who don't do their summer homework into Desertrians, also in the festival episode when Kenta says Tsubomi looks like Cure Blossom body wise,Tsubomi looks at the camera with a frightened face

In Suite Precure, when going up against the quiz master Negatone, the three Cures(Rhythm,Beat,Melody)look at the camera and say "viewers around the world, let's think through these questions together".

In Healin Good when the girls are imagining training, Rabirin literally rubs out their thought bubbles saying "it's nothing like what you're imagining"

On a side note, leaning on the 4th wall means doing something that shows the character is aware they're in a show but they don't directly address the audience meanwhile breaking the 4th wall means they directly address the audience.

Looking back at this scene as an adult, it is some fridge horror(or in simple terms, realization that something isn't so innocent as it seems)that really shows how dangerous Gotham really is,even with a new Batman there are several missing children. The world really is a cruel place and Batman Beyond touched on that.

From the Batman Beyond episode "Mind Games"
