In general, what's the difference between the models?

I messed up a long time ago and bought a Universal HTC. I don't remember what happened with it. I am in the US and think I don't want a global model Xperia but it seems that's all that's available here.

I spoke with a few local companies here in Florida. Priced $180-320. One said they won't use non Sony parts. No comments from others. What's your opinion on the quality of replacement screens and the cost of repairs?
