Labour 1923 - Undecided subtitle

*Ignore that some of the images are not properly fitting in the card space lol.

Hello,

This is a teaser for the mod I've been working on the past few months. Labour 1923, centred around the short lived first Labour government. Formed in 1924, they made a lot of mistakes. And it fell before the year even finished... But what if they didn't. And maybe even achieved their agenda. Though the biggest hurdle to that is it was a minority government, reluctantly supported by the Liberal Party, so you'll have to manage their dissent to some of the stuff you do and the way you react to events that happen. But with the power to call snap elections, maybe you'll survive long enough to win that majority government.

All of this happening as the looming shadow of trade union anger, particularly from coal miners grow, something that irl escalated into the 1926 General Strike. Under the conservatives it failed, and in retaliation they implemented some of the harshest anti union legislature the country had ever seen. Crippling unions until Labour rolled them back later in the 40s.

How could a Labour government navigate the growing discontent? Could they try to delay it? Maybe even give a better deal for the strikers in the end. Or maybe avert it entirely.

The planned timeframe is 1923 - 1929 before the great depression hits.

Also because its for the UK, the electoral system will be first past the post, meaning you won't need 50% for a majority. But with 3 parties claiming large junks of the votes, you may find it tough to break out of a hung parliament.

But yeah, thats about all I have to say on it for now. I might do another teaser in the future. But it'll probably be when its closer to being finished.

Captain Chris ‘Hunter-Killer’ Philp single-handedly takes on French navy | John Crace

What on earth is this article? lol

"Most of them hadn’t even heard the shots – “he was probably using a silencer”, said the Philpster – let alone had any idea they had come under serious attack. But Hunter-Killer was adamant. The Frenchies had been out to eliminate him. He had got too close to stopping the small boat crossings and Macron would never stand for that."

"He pulled the burner phone out of his pocket and speed-dialled Kemi. “I’m under attack" ...Kemi’s eyes lit up. If only she was prime minister, she would be able to launch a tactical first nuclear strike on Calais."

How do you think First Past the post could be implemented for a mod?

The title is the question. Obviously the fact the Weimar republic used PR makes it easy to just have it where whatever your vote percentage was, is roughly the amount of seats you get.

And while I don't know if I have what it takes to put together a mod myself. I have wondered how someone could make a mod for somewhere like the UK in this era, or of some other country with fptp. I would guess maybe trying to find demographics data from the time and having each vote demographic have its own 'spread' of potential votes across the country? And that if you get enough of a demographic and enough of a spread, you could win.

Also despite the habit of first past the post generally churning out majority governments, which you'd think would be kinda boring for the gameplay of these mods. The British interwar era famously had variety with majority governments like the Stanley Baldwin landslide win, the short lived Labour minority government which the liberals tolerated and the national coalition of which Labour Leader Ramsey Macdonald ended up joining. So theres definitely options for Red Autumn esque coalition spice. Of real life coalition examples, and potential what ifs.
