At Ueno Zoo, the ring‑tailed lemurs are exhibited in separate spaces for males and females.

The female group calls back in response to the males’ vocalizations.

There are currently no pandas at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo.

This enclosure in the East Garden was built for Japan’s first giant pandas.

It’s set to be demolished soon, so the zoo is displaying it so visitors can reflect on how the pandas once lived there.

Although Punch was born last year, this year has seen an unusually large number of newborns.
