Why is the MTA still ordering railcars with dot-matrix displays and not HD displays?
I've noticed that on the CTrail Adessia Car mockup and on the interior of the NJT Multilevel III, they seem to use HD displays instead of dot-matrix. But on the renderings of the M9A car interior, they seem to still be using dot-matrix.
The main benefit of digital displays is they allow for more information to be shown at once, so why is the MTA not using them?
Streetsblog NYC: Mamdani Is Making a Catastrophic Mistake on QueensLink
nyc.streetsblog.orgIf I'd owned the LIRR.
If I owned the LIRR, I would revise the M9 and M9A's designs back to the famous yellow front. The M9As design would also be revised to something like this:
I'd also electrify the remaining parts of the Port Jefferson Branch to Port Jefferson, as well as a new yard.
I'd also improve frequencies systemwide.
The Greenport Branch would receive signals.
Montauk Branch electrification would be extended to Patchogue, with the station being rebuilt with 3 tracks with trains terminating here. Trains that short-turned at Massapequa now short-turn at Babylon.
A double track will be installed on the Port Washington Branch east of Great Neck.
To relieve congestion on the 7 train, the Port Washington Branch would receive new stations.
Cedar Manor would reopen.
Thoughts anyone?
Metro-North Diagrams I made!
I was inspired by u/Donghoon and their custom LIRR diagrams, so I decided to do the same with Metro-North.
Metro-North Southeast station when it was known as Brewster North.
I'm trying to find an image of the Southeast station back in the day when it was known as Brewster North, and I want a picture with the station signage.
So far, this is the closest I have got:
Does anyone have pictures?
The Northern Blvd Line and Worth Street Lines.
The first idea would be to have a new subway line in Queens known as the Northern Blvd Line, having a new tunnel under the East River and stopping at: 36th Street (M/R trains) 39th Street, 48th Street, 54th Street (M/R), 69th Street, 77th Street, 82nd Street, Junction Blvd, Boat Basin Place (Optional), Seaver Way (Also optional), College Point Boulevard, Union Street, and 150th Street. The second idea would make a new branch off the express tracks of the Eighth Avenue Line after Canal Street. The new stops would be: Foley Square, Chatham Square (With a connection to the Second Avenue Subway), Rutgers Street - East Broadway, and Grand Street. These new extensions would be served by a new K train along Eighth Avenue, being an express.

My ranking of every NYC Subway Line (+ SIR)
I'll give the reasons for rankings. (First 8 lines, more will be in the comments.)
1 Train - Really fast for a local, reliable, and frequent. S tier line.
2 Train - The opposite of the 1 train. Unreliable and not frequent, but the newer R142s and speed do make up for it. B tier line.
3 Train - Best of both worlds. Combines the speed, reliability, and frequency of the 1 train, but has the speed of the 2 train. S tier line.
4 Train - Fast on Lexington, somewhat frequent, but has overcrowding problems. A tier line.
5 Train - What can I say except it's redundant. Just switch from the 2 to the 4 at 149th Street - Grand Concourse Hostos. The only exclusive part to it is the Dyre Avenue Line. It's also not as frequent as the 4 and is a little slower than said line. C tier line.
6 Train - Good local on Lexington, but suffers the same overcrowding the 4 has. Still an A tier line.
7 Train - Easy S tier. Fast, reliable, and frequent.
A Train - Hot take but I think this is a good line. It's great for cross-city travel and has gotten more reliable when the R46s retired from the line. Frequencies are okay so it's going into the A tier.
The Mayor has yet to remove this to his budget.
The worst part? It's supposed to be passed in 1 day!
The mayor is truly a Benedict Arnold.
At this point, ratio him here in the comments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4BIv5ebu_M
People keep saying wait until he makes a video on Queensway, but I feel like if we do it now, we can tell him to remove it and actually get him to remove it from the budget before it's passed.
I am tired of seeing a transit obstructionist scheme on the budget.
Build the Queenslink, and no way with Queensway!
Update: Queenslink released a post persuading people in NYC to contact their council member in their district. If you live in NYC, do this now. Using your voices persuades your council member to defund Queensway. Also tell them to add Queenslink to the budget.

Brown M train is back at it again!
M trains will run between Middle Village - Metropolitan Av and Delancey St-Essex St, and via the J to/from Broad St. Sound familar?
Queensway is genuinely disgusting...
So, Queensway has recently been at their worst lately, and I'll go over why. First, at the testimony, they used CHILDREN to testify their plan. Are they trying to use emotions to get us to support them? Because that is what it looks like here. Also, they are also using BOTS to upvote comments in their favor. This is genuinely disgusting to see on a pro-transit subreddit. Given that if a comment were to favor Queensway, it would get massively downvoted. We need to stop these people.
Now that the testimonies have happened, what is going to happen to Queenslink now?
reddit.comNow that the R143 is over 20 years old, should we start to consider a replacement?
These cars are 24 years old, and since the R142 and R142A are 1 year older and are up for retirement, should we start to consider a replacement?
The mayor after putting Queensway in the budget and not Queenslink:
reddit.comHow to SAVE Queenslink
I have an idea for saving Queenslink, and it involves the state. What we want to do is get the NY state governor to not only support Queenslink, but to make it one of her priorities. Once the governor does that, the MTA decides to support Queenslink since the governor influences the MTA. Once that happens the governor would pressure Zohran Mamdani to remove Queensway from the budget and to add Queenslink. This then makes the mayor think that if the governor and MTA support Queenslink, he should follow suit. If he still doesn't support it, the governor can simply give the mayor a consequence for not supporting it. This should pressurize him even more to the point where he gives in.
Any thoughts on this idea?
Subway over the GWB?
As we all know, the George Washington Bridge between Manhattan and New Jersey is the busiest bridge in the USA, and it is crowded. So what are your thoughts on a subway over the GWB into New Jersey?
Stats:
Extension of the C Line.
Since this makes the C no longer a shortened clone of the A, the service can now run 24/7.
First extension of the subway into New Jersey.
Pros:
Relieves congestion of the GWB.
Gives NJ communities access to the subway.
Allows for future redevelopment.
Cheap to build: Costs around $2.16B for 67.2M annual ridership.
Cons:
The GWB actually had provisions for a subway, but this guy named "Rob Moses" used that provision to add a lower level, which is still congested. If anything, it would require building the subway on the sides of the GWB, or demolishing the lower level in favor of the subway.
