Using Mangrove Trapdoors for Airplane Windows

I used Mangrove Trapdoors for the airplane windows, and I think they work surprisingly well.

Since they have that distinct hole in the middle, they naturally look like windows.

Another huge plus is that they are super thin. Instead of using full blocks that take up a lot of room, these trapdoors save a ton of interior space, making it easier to build the seats and aisle inside while keeping the cabin open and comfortable.

Let me know what you think!

Upgraded my Block Display Car datapack!

I’ve made some major upgrades to my block display car datapack. Here are the new features and mechanical changes:

🔊 Sounds & Visuals

  • Custom Sounds: I’ve completely changed the engine and drift sound effects. The engine sound pitch now dynamically increases and gets higher as the vehicle accelerates.
  • Smooth Animations: Added realistic animations for the doors opening/closing, the steering wheel and front wheels turning, and the dashboard gauges.
  • Headlights: You can toggle the headlights on and off by right-clicking.

⚙️ Mechanics & Controls

  • 6-Speed Gearbox: Left-clicking allows you to shift through gears 1 to 6, which caps your maximum speed depending on the gear.
  • Handbrake: Pressing the jump key engages the handbrake.
  • Drift & Counter-steering: The drift mechanics have been reworked to be much more realistic. Briefly applying the handbrake causes the vehicle to slide sideways(oversteer). You can control the drift by counter-steering(turning in the opposite direction of the oversteer). To exit the drift, you just need to align your steering with your direction of travel or slow down.

What do you guys think of the new sounds and systems?

Fully Functional DMC DeLorean using Block Displays

I spent the last few days working on a datapack to create a fully drivable DMC DeLorean from "Back to the Future". I made it using block displays, so no mods or resourcepacks are required (though I used a resourcepack in the video just to add realistic reflections to the texture).

Here are the key features:

  • Inertia & Drift: Replicated both forward/backward and lateral (sideways) inertia. It drifts smoothly and holds the slide even after you let go of the steering.
  • Collision Feedback: Bounces back and slides realistically when you crash into walls or obstacles.
  • Body Lean: Tilts into corners based on your speed and steering angle.
  • Animations: Smooth gull-wing doors, a turning steering wheel, and hovering wheels that tilt depending on your direction.
  • 2-Player Seating: Driver + passenger support.
  • Left-Click: Cycles through top speed limits.
  • Right-Click: Toggles Free-cam mode (locks your camera angle so your view doesn't force-rotate with the car).

I finally got my command-based car working! I made it with block displays, so no mods or resource packs are required.

It features WASD movement control, and you can toggle Cruise Control by sprinting.

The car deals damage and knockback to any mobs it hits, but crashing into a wall at high speed will trigger an explosion with a recoil effect.

It also features spark particles when scraping against walls and a dynamic tilt system that aligns the car's orientation with the terrain's slope.

What do you guys think?

The map is available for download here. The car is included as part of this project
