Realistic weathering for city roads ft. cushions

Realistic weathering for city roads ft. cushions

i know its been done to death but i havent really seen anyone do this type of weathering for roads, atleast to my knowledge. i wanted to recreate the dark stripes that appear in the middle of the lane to simulate where oil and other fluids would drop from vehicles.

i also wanted to play around with the "yellow" road markings as i find that alot of the time theyre actually closer to orangeish than bright yellow like bamboo or yellow wool, or atleast somewhere in between orange and yellow. was also playing around with alternating the orientation of stairs to create a texture for the road lines. i used oak stairs and copper to emulate a "fading" effect for the paint on the more weathered road, as well as a gray patch of what i believe is usually concrete or old asphalt.

(kudos to user TomOnMars who i believe posted the original design for the double solid lines)

Crate transparent map art overlay

If you make map art over the void (like in the end) and place glass above the void, those map pixels will be transparent. For the block to be visible underneath the item frame does have to be invisible though.
I took the crate texture from this recourse pack (by Samey the Hedgie) and used MapartCraft to create map art for it.
Then I destroyed the parts of the map art that would be transparent and added glass underneath.
I like this approach over using just a resource pack because you don't lose any existing Minecraft textures and you get to experiment with different blocks under the crate texture.

I'd be interested to see if anyone else has used a similar technique for anything else

You can place powdered snow under the yellow carpet to reduce a fall damage for a proper leap of faith

You can use a bell as a showerhead

Also, quartz pillars and stripped pale oak logs look great together

Table Lamp - w/ statues and bells

I haven't experimented with cushions; it might be possible to place a cushion so it covers the statue completely. It does require a wall for the bell placement; otherwise, it won't place. Let me know what you think or if you'd like to see any other variations.

Wood support

An organic wood support I'm working on.

I added some vegetation to give it a more abandoned look.

Any advice on how to recreate this sidewalk color?

All of the blocks that have the right texture/vibe (stone blocks etc.) are too gray, and this is more tan than that. Thank you for your time.

Banners for Art Nouveau decorative details

Banners work great for the type of floral patterns you find in Art Nouveau. The building on the left is based on Hauptmann House in Ljubljana, the one in the middle is based on Bartoli House in Trieste.

The floral pattern is made with whatever base you want, a flower charge, indented pattern at the base, and a diagonal in either direction. Then you put alternating banners right one under the other

My first bedroom

I tried to create a corner with a bunk bed, desk, and closet.
I placed some dead coral on the white rug to give it some texture and "pattern" (I don't know if it turned out well, but I liked the idea).
The gaming chair is still a work in progress; I'm open to suggestions.
It's the first time I've decorated a room like this, so let me know what you think and what I can improve!

Chess, checkers, & a memory match games on castle grounds.

My son and I have been working on a castle. The memory match game is playable by opening the trap doors. There are 64 tiles, so 32 matches to make.

It's creative mode with TNT explodes turned off, so those pillars are in no danger. Armor stands for the chess pieces, & pressure plates for checkers. The 4th building is full of beds for the village idiots nitwits.

I tried experimenting with armor stands/cushions for the last few months and made some decent props :)

All props are vanilla survival achievable

-birdhouse

-stove

-refrigerator

-DeLorean

-Tardis/Police box

I used "invisible item frames" for the birdhouse's hole, but a button works fine too

Any tips on a design for my floor?

Ive been trying to create a sort of mosaic or pattern in this central spire of my build with the same sort of style as the floor but has some flair to it. I had some sort of an idea with waterlogged stairs (currently unwaterlogged and untextured). There will be a spiral stairway up the spire and I want it to be brighter with fine details and was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions for detail. Thank you!

railway track, train stripes, and other details using cushions

you can use cushions to hold together bogies, act as railway ties, get smoother slopes, act as ceiling storage racks, look like antennas, and much more! of course they can always just be seats too!

Zombie in a grave

Zombie’s arms are made with a wooden fence, the tombstone is made from stone bricks, a grey cushion and a dried ghast.

Mojang, please add arms to armor stands on Java 😭

One block arched window w/ invisible item frames and sculk/glass panes

idk if anyone has tried this yet, but i had trouble coming up with compact arched windows for my DBZ map til i saw someone using wither skulls on slabs to create arch shapes. it looked good at an angle but as the OP has specified, only that one angle.

i figured that maybe i could use item frames to some capacity, so i started trying to look for items that were dark and covered the most space in the inventory and landed on black glass panes and sculk. i prefer sculk since theyre opaque but glass works in other instances. cauldron trick is still best IMHO for builds using deepslate.
