Remote Control (RetroTINK 4k)

My RetroTINK 4k remote control often does not work when I press the buttons on it. It has been like this since I got it.

I have to point the remote directly at RetroTINK 4k to get it to work. My other TV remotes around the house gave a much wider angle of effective operation, meaning I do not have to point them directly at the TV for them to function.

I opened my RetroTINK 4k remote control today to see if there was an issue inside it. I discovered that the manufacturer has installed DUAL IR BLASTERS. To me this is unusual as every other remote control I have opened down through the years just had a single infra-red blaster.

This suggests to me that the manufacturer was aware of the poor remote control signal on the RetroTINK 4k and attempted to boost the IR signal with DUAL IR BLASTERS to overcome the issue.

I would conclude that as my RetroTINK 4k remote control often still does not work when I press the buttons on it, the actual signal issue is due the IR Receiver inside the RetroTINK 4k console.

The manufacturer appears to have installed DUAL IR BLASTERS in the remote control in an attempt to compensate for the weak IR Receiver inside the RetroTINK 4k console.

Home Solar Panels with or without batteries ?

I am trying to decide on home Solar Panels with or without batteries.

I my calculations are as follows:

7 kW Solar Panel system without batteries = €7000

7 kW Solar Panel system with 15kWh batteries = €13000

Without batteries , annual system savings = €1700

With batteries, annual system savings = €2000

Without batteries the system would pay for itself in only 3 years, whereas with batteries it would take nearly 7 years for the system to pay for itself.

Appreciate there may be some differences in calculations based on energy consumption of individual peoples homes, but the general principle stands that the battery system takes significantly longer to payback for itself.

So the solar battery system only makes sense if there were some added benefit such as being able to automatically power the majority of your home in the event of a grid blackout. However many battery systems do not offer this.

Solar Panel system without batteries seems to be the superior financial investment.

Are people buying solar systems with batteries because they are unaware of this, or is there something that I am missing here ?

PlayStation Power Supply Unit

I have noticed a mark on the yellow transformer inside my PSX original power supply unit. The mark appears to be a burn mark and I can feel it with my fingers that it is raised like a bubble on the top of the transformer, see image below with discoloration next to the text on the top of the transformer.

So I think I should replace the power supply unit as a safety measure.

I seen a USB-C powered replacement power supply unit from Robot Retro, is this a good reliable replacement option ?
