Do I stop chasing BMI now I’m basically there?

Do I stop chasing BMI now I’m basically there?

I know smart scales can be out, especially with body fat, muscle, water etc., so I’m not treating every number as gospel.

But BMI is at least a fixed calculation, and mine is now showing 25.1, so I’m literally just outside the “healthy” range. I’ve been tracking this for nearly a year and, over time, most of the boxes on the app have gradually moved from yellow/red into green, which has been quite motivating to see.

Current stats are 77.9kg, BMI 25.1, body fat around 19.9%, and visceral fat 8.

Part of me wants to push to around 76kg just to be properly inside the healthy BMI range, but another part of me thinks I’m maybe at the stage where I should stop chasing the number and maintain based on how I look, how clothes fit, and how I feel.

Has anyone else reached this point and decided “this is enough now” even if BMI was still borderline?

One year down

108kg down to around 78kg. The scale tells part of it, but the real win is feeling sharper, lighter, and more confident. Clothes fit better, face has changed, and I’m still pushing for the next level.

30kg off in 11 months 108kg-78kg

Started at 108kg and now sitting around 78kg. It’s been a long road, but the biggest change is how much better I feel in myself, in clothes, and day to day. Still working on tightening up and building more shape, but I’m proud of the progress so far.

M/44/5'10" [108kg > 78.9kg = 29.1kg lost] Not just weight loss — clothes fit different, energy is better, face has changed, and I feel like myself again

108kg to 78kg - 30kg down (44)

Started at 108kg and now sitting at 78kg. 30kg down, still training, still tightening up, and still improving. Same person, just sharper, lighter and more switched on

30kg off

Still work to do with training, strength, shape and keeping things steady — but this is a proper milestone.

Slow, consistent progress. No crash diet nonsense. Just showing up, making better choices, and sticking with it.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been following this sub for a while and thought I’d finally share my progress.

I started Mounjaro on 6 July 2025 at around 107.3kg, and I’m now sitting at 80.2kg, so just over 27kg down overall. My BMI has gone from the obese range to about 26.0, and I’m now only about 4kg away from 12 stone, which honestly feels mad to even type.

I started on 2.5mg, spent a long time on 5mg, and I’m currently on week 3 of 7.5mg. The loss has definitely slowed down now compared with the early months, and I still get the usual annoying scale bounces, but the overall trend is still moving in the right direction.

The biggest change for me is that I’m eating fairly normally now, but I get full much quicker and actually stop when I’m full. I haven’t been perfect, I’ve had meals out, work events, beers, and normal life in between — but Mounjaro has helped me stay consistent without feeling like I’m constantly fighting myself.

I still have bits I’m self-conscious about, and I don’t always see the change properly myself, but looking at the graph and photos together makes it feel more real.

Just wanted to share because posts like this helped me a lot when I was starting out. If you’re in a slow patch or the scale is messing with your head, keep looking at the longer trend. It doesn’t always move neatly week to week, but it can still be working.

Good luck to everyone on their own journey.
