Boyfriend blamed me when I needed support

My boyfriend and I are in a Idr for about a year. He is generally loving, caring, and puts a lot of effort into our relationship. Recently, I had an uncomfortable experience where a tailor touched me inappropriately while taking measurements. When I told my boyfriend, instead of comforting me, he became very angry, blamed me for not being careful, said he felt helpless because he couldn't do anything, and eventually shut down and ended the call.

The next day, I told him what hurt me most was that he never asked how I felt. He admitted he was selfish in that moment and apologized. However, this isn't the first time we've had a conflict where he shuts down, takes space, avoids discussing the issue, and I end up being the one who calls back.

He has since apologized and asked for another chance. I still love him very much, and the thought of losing him makes me sad. But I'm wondering if this relationship would last longer if there is this communication gap.
