Pain in crowned tooth and surrounding gum for 3 days —Need advice

Hi everyone,

I have a dental crown that was placed in September 2025 on one of my upper front teeth. No root canal was done — the nerve is still alive.

3 days ago I suddenly developed pain in both the crowned tooth AND the surrounding gum. Here’s my situation:
• Pain level: 5/10, manageable with painkillers
• Ice pack on cheek gives relief
• No fever, no facial swelling
• No pain radiating to jaw or ear
• Gums look mildly red and inflamed
• No visible abscess bump
I am seeing a dentist Tuesday for exam and X-ray.
My questions:
1. Does this sound like an infection under the crown?
2. Could this be gingivitis or something simpler?
3. Do I likely need a root canal?
4. Should I go to emergency dentist sooner?
5. Is it normal for crowned teeth to develop pain 8 months later?

I am a vegetarian, not taking any medications regularly, no known allergies. Located in College Park MD.

Been wearing the Glycerin 21 basically every day for 14 months. Office, walking, errands, everything. Absolute favourite shoe I’ve ever owned, the all day comfort is on another level. Feet never hurt anymore which used to be a real problem for me. They’re finally done and I need to figure out what’s next.

I also have the ASICS Gel 1130 which I like a lot and honestly looks much better than the Glycerin but it just doesn’t come close comfort wise after a long day. So right now I use the Glycerin when I know I’ll be on my feet a lot and the 1130 when I actually care how I look. Would love one shoe that does both.

I run occasionally but nothing serious, just short jogs here and there so I don’t need a running shoe. Everyday comfort is the whole point.

Open to anything, not just Brooks. Whatever has that same insane cushioning but looks a bit more like a normal shoe a person would actually wear out.

Also drop colourway suggestions if you have them. I usually go for clean neutrals but genuinely open to whatever looks good on the shoe you recommend.
