The Highest-Floor-Paradox
I've been playing Dandy's World for 2 weeks now, and I ADORE the game. I'm losing passion for it, though- and it has nothing do do with the game itself specifically. Rather, it's the Highest-Floor-Paradox that haunts the Dandy's World community.
As a newer player, there's a lot of expectations. I don't just mean knowing Toons, how Twisteds work, trinkets, and game-specific callouts. These are very important, but I don't see many people actually teaching- or being kind to newer players.
I researched the game on my own, learned all the callouts, looked up how each character works, trinket combos, unwritten rules, etc. I felt that would be enough to let me into some of the runs, so I decided to join a few Discord servers to join runs. I posted over 12 self ads, and tried to join dozens of runs- but none of them accepted me.
It wasn't because I was new, nor was it information I was lacking. It was my floor level- which is the primary topic of my post. There is a horrible paradox within the community that I'm hoping someone feels with me.
The paradox is that Dandy's World community has incredibly high expectations of your Highest Floors Survived stat. In order to get to high floors- you need a good team. Finding that in matchmaking is near impossible- and I'm usually the last one by floor 15-20. But I can't join runs, because my Highest Floor isn't high enough, BUT the only way to get that is by having a team run! Therein lies the paradox. To get a good team, you need high floor stats, but to get high floor stats, you need a good team.
It didn't matter that I solod Dyle twice on my first week, or that I have 30 floors on a matchmaking lobby, or that I know how to distract, or that I have many good toons and almost all of the trinkets. All that matters is having around 50-100 floors. This is really killing my passion for the game. I don't want to play with bad teams that I can't communicate with, but it's been my only option for 2 weeks.
Please tell me someone is suffering this paradox. Is there any way out of it? What can I do to get accepted into runs?
Sorry this is long, but if ANYONE can chat, I'd love to listen.
