Yet another “Should I buy?” post

Sorry in advance everyone.

I currently have a Honda Fit. We love it (I like a good hatchback), and we have had it for 13 years but we have had our eye on transitioning to EV for quite a while, and now, without any need to explain, it’s time.

I’ve put down a reserve for a Subaru Uncharted but I’m concerned about delivery times. I was also interested in an ID.4 but the first dealership we went to completely whiffed on selling me anything, and by that time I was decided on the Uncharted. Now with some time past and concerns about how long we might have to wait, I’m considering trying a different VW dealership, but interestingly the one I’m looking at now has at least one e-Golf available. There were two but I think one is off the board now.

Anyway, they have a 2019 CPO with I believe 65k miles on it for about 15k CAD. My original intent was to lease, but at that price, it compares to really just a year or two of payments and then I’m back to no car note. That’s pretty appealing, but I don’t know that my usage pattern is the best for the e-Golf and even with it being a 2019 model I would have concerns about the battery age and range in Quebec.

I have a garage, we have installed an NACS charger (yes VWs would require an adapter), and currently I have to drive every weekday. On my worst day I would need to put on about 125km, 60km of which would be freeway driving. So, this should be fine *now* but a year from now? 6 months from now in the winter?

If the car is CPO then I’m assuming it will carry some kind of specific warranty for the batteries, but in any case is battery replacement even still an option for a car that has been out of production for six years?

Is this car a good fit for me? Am I needlessly worrying?

Should I switch home chargers?

I was originally planning to get a Solterra, so I bought an Emporia J1772 charger. Now I think I’ve changed my mind to an Uncharted but I already have the charger delivered (not installed).

Since I’d probably get the NACS->CCS adapter anyway for flexibility, is there an issue if I regularly used this at home? Or should I just return this Emporia and get the NACS one?

Edit: Thanks for the feedback everyone, I went ahead and ordered the NACS charger and I’m returning the J1772 one.
