First EV
First EV. $7000 off. The interior quality is excellent, GT sound system is great. Just a week in, so far so good.

It’s silly it isn’t an option it would be a life safer. as I work for an airline and my car sits in a open lot for hours
I can’t seem to find a clear answer on this. I had an old car where I could install the dashcam to the mirror (with an adapter). It was super easy.
Does the Uncharted have an easy way to do this as well? Specifically plug a dashcam into the mirror?
Charging on a home Level 2 setup and the circuit breaker keeps tripping (twice in two days) — it’s a doubled 110 setup, so I suspect I need to cap the current draw. My husband’s Tesla charges fine on the same circuit, no trips.
I know Tesla has an easy amperage slider in their app, but I can’t find anything similar in SubaruConnect. Is there a charge current limit setting somewhere — either in the app, or maybe on the center touchscreen instead? Trying to drop it down to around 32A as a test before I get an electrician out.
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
I am considering my next vehicle as I’m coming from a 06 Toyota Highlander. I work from home, so I don’t have a crazy daily commute I was considering an EV (such as the uncharted — although FWD models are PITA to find in AZ.) but then I was considering an PHEV RAV4 which is a bit like best of both worlds it seems. PHEV seems nice when I don’t want to worry about the limitations for EVs, eg driving a few hours north to see family etc. I’m at a house so I have access to full time charging.
For those of you with the new uncharted, why EV over a PHEV? Curious to hear feedback on what pushed you one direction over the other.
I saw a review video with this A/C pre-cool button on the keyfob - I'm assuming this is something only GT owners have, could someone confirm? Thanks!
Has anyone found center caps for the 18” Sport wheels? I took off the aero covers, but I want to get the center caps and the Subaru dealership doesn’t have any that fit. Any suggestions with links are greatly appreciated. Pics are nice too 😊
I was armed with the Tesla App, loaded with a valid credit card, name and address, and set off for my first Tesla charge. I tried three different stalls… one of which just charged à Tesla. I began with the App… it identified I was at the charging location, I input the designated the stall number, and plugged in. My car was running and it turned off the power and then indicated it takes about two minutes to begin. Nothing!
Can I get a step by step process for passing Tesla elections into my Uncharted?
Does anyone have any experience with Subaru’s branded home wall charger?
I’m in Japan, and Subaru recently announced a promotion where buyers of a Trailseeker or Solterra can get their 6kW home charger for free.
When we originally placed our order, though, there was a different promotion. We chose the ¥100,000 coupon for charging at Subaru partner charging stations. Our plan was to exchange those coupons for digital currency and use the money toward having a Level 2 outlet installed at home.
Now I’m wondering if it would be better to switch from the coupon to the free 6kW charger instead.
Would you:
Take the Subaru 6kW charger and pay to have it installed by Subaru’s contractor, or
Keep the ¥100,000 digital coupon and just install a standard Level 2 outlet with a local electrician?
For context, Subaru sells the 6kW charger for around ¥200,000 on their website, but it has to be installed by one of their approved contractors. My concern is that their installation costs could end up being significantly higher than hiring a local electrician, which might offset much of the value of getting the charger for free.
Has anyone gone through this process or have any recommendations?
2025 Crosstrek driver here, looking to drive it until december and then I'll trade it for an Uncharted. What is this car routine manteinance all about ? Filters ? Fluids ? Look forward to shake off the oil changes thing for good....
…and it started right up!!! I have had it since early April and it’s the first time I left it. I was sure it wouldn’t start when we got home from vacation today but it started right up.
I deleted the app weeks ago and brought the keys with me so they were no where in range. I drove it a ton the day before we left and left the battery charged at 40%.
So relieved!
This is an update to my original post here.
Four days after the first time the car was found dead, it needed a second jumpstart.
Today the car was at the service center for diagnosis. Too soon to tell if this will solve the problem but the long story short is if you have the SubaruConnect App installed on your phone, disable Background App Refresh for SubaruConnect (on iPhone it's in Settings/General/Background App Refresh) and delete the companion App that's automatically installed on Apple Watch if you have one. Check your phone's battery usage to see if the Subaru App has been burning battery on background activity. Limit location services to only when the App is in use for good measure.
Here's the longer version. There's a Subaru service information bulletin revised 06/29/26 (yesterday) that has a list of Apps suspected of frequently requesting updates from the car, keeping it awake and draining the battery. One on the list is the wearable companion app that's installed alongside the SubaruConnect App on Google Wear OS and Apple WatchOS. The documentation implies these wearable apps contain a setting to constantly update the vehicle status - we could find no such setting in the Apple Watch app - my only guess is they may be simply referring to the background app refresh toggle. But, hearing this got me thinking about unwanted background activity.
So, I checked my wife's iPhone (where the SubaruConnect App is installed) and found that in battery usage, the app's background activity was off the charts; on Sunday it burned 17% of her iPhone's battery spending 15 hours and 45 minutes being active in the background - despite her not actively use the app at all. The surrounding days were also very high, measured in hours (a typical heavily used app might have a few minutes of background activity in a day and for comparison the KiaAccess app for our other car uses so little phone battery that it doesn't even register in the activity). Saturday - the day it needed jump-starting, was the second highest day. I'll attach a screenshot.
I don't understand the electrical side of anything but for those that do - the service center documentation confirmed a draw between 90-180mA on the battery before they proceeded to reset the infotainment system and remove our connected devices; afterward the found the draw to be 17ma steady.
Again, too soon to tell if this solves it - could wake up tomorrow and the car is dead again. But I can't imagine the SubaruConnect app talking for hours in the background doesn't have something to do with the dead 12-volt - at least in our case.
I love this car, but it needed to shed some dead weight.
Feeling paranoid about the 12v drain issue but I tend to prefer to spend my lunch break from work chilling in my car.
With the temps nearing 100 I want to be able to have the AC running but I’m worried that it’s going to drain the battery? Is there a way to “idle” without draining the 12v?
I was recently in an accident and am now in the market for a new car. I’m coming from my 2nd Hyundai Kona EV and need to change to a different maker. One thing that I’ve always required in a car is a sunroof, otherwise I feel too claustrophobic. For those of you with the GT and the fixed ceiling window, do you like it? Not sure how I feel about not being able to open it, but it would help with the closed in feeling.
I’m also looking at a used Nissan Ariya but haven’t driven either, just doing internet research.
I just noticed today that you can link Subaru Connect to Abrp for live data. But due to the lag in how long it takes Subaru Connect to update it might take 15-20mins for ABRP to get SOC data.
Bought a 2026 Uncharted Sport a couple months ago. I live in Oakland CA, the glass breakage capital of the world, and not surprisingly, someone broke the side window to see if there was anything inside worth stealing. There wasn't, so all I lost was the window, but now Subaru tells me it will take 6-8 WEEKS to get a replacement side window in. So I get to drive around in a brand-new $35+K car for two months with a trash bag taped over a broken window.
I called Subaru National to complain but I'm not optimistic. Thank goodness it wasn't the windshield! I'll let y'all know if a homeless guy takes up residence in my backseat.
Has anyone a) had the 12v battery drain problem, b) returned their car to their dealer to have it fixed, and c) had the car returned with the problem fixed?
We're now on day 17 of our Uncharted at the dealer while we wait for a fix.
After reading a great deal here about the app complications and in the manual about the data collection involved, I’ve decided to explore using my car without the app before making the decision to register the car and use it. My family has been trying to find ways to lessen the data we give to the world in whatever small ways we can realistically.
It’s been only a day and a half, so I don’t have a lot of experience with the car yet. So far, there isn’t anything the app offers me that I cannot accomplish without it. I set my charging schedule in the car and am using CarPlay for maps and music.
Is anyone else taking a similar approach? Are most of you here using the app? Are there things you’ve found that made interacting with the app a positive thing for you? I do not plan to subscribe to anything in order to operate a car that I just bought for a bucket of money. That concept actually sort of infuriates me. Like, how dare they keep squeezing money from people after spending that kind of money. It’s gross.
Anyway, I’d love to hear if others are taking a similar approach or if there really are features that make SubaruConnect the better experience.
So I’m on my first roadtrip in n CO, NM, AZ area with the Uncharted and I’ve only successfully charged 1 out of 3 times at a Tesla charger.
First time I discovered the Tesla station was only for Tesla’s and did not support non Tesla EVs - even with NACS.
Second charger the cord was too short and I couldn’t get close enough because they installed wheel stops. I was able to angle to get close enough, but then discovered 3 out 6 chargers just didn’t work. No indication on the app or anything. Sigh.
Third time after 3 attempts I finally got it to charge. It took an exact sequence of launching the app, choosing the charge station number , clicking start charge button, and then - and only then, plugging it into the car. If I did any of those out of order - the Tesla app just sat there spinning.
I’ve had much more success and reliability from Electricfy America at Walmarts.
Plus I’ve got 800kwh free left over from my prior Kia ev6 promo deal.
Unfortunately I’ve had to make a lot of stops because I’m only getting 2.5kwh/mile doing 80mph with full AC in 90+ weather. So range is around 120-150 miles before needing a charge.
Roadtrips are definitely more challenging than a gas car, but still not terrible.
