What is the worst saw you have every owned/run?
Since the the most reliable post got some traction
Mine has been any of the newer poulan saws.
Cheaper quality and always need to be tuned/adjusted vs the stihls/huskies i have.
Is there one that made you rage? :)
What is the most reliable chainsaw?
For me it's been Sthil ms 170
Master Chainsaw Sharpening Once and for All
I used his videos when i started sharpening my own chains and my gear cuts great.
Whats a Husky 235 worth on the used market in your area?
I need to thin my collection as i have 9 and only need one for traveling to and from our remote cabin on a 13 km private and gated ( 6 gates total) road.
I bought the 235 used last year thinking it would be good to have a lighter saw for my my 260 and other bigger saws feel heavy or i'm tired but it barely lighter then my other saws and would likely get a ms 170c instead.
sol-ark - issues with AGM batteries?
Hello,
We are Building a new setup for our off-grid cabin that is in a remote part of the Canadian Shield in Canada that has uncontrolled temperatures from -35c to +35c when we are not there.
We are working with a local supplier/installer that has a good reputation and we have worked with before.
During the scoping we are going with a 4000w+ 48v setup with 8x 430 panels.
We were expecting to go with the sol-ark due to ease of use/setup/remote monitoring(s/s/f) but initially they were suggesting that we go with a Magnasine Magnum 48v 4000w invertor, midnite classic 200 controller and and ez box for breakers/connections. We have an almost 20 year old magnum 3000w inverter with tri-star pwn controller running at out other cabin that has 1500kw setup and it has worked well but remote monitoring requires a more complex setup to accomplish.
Their experience with the Sol-Arks and AGMs is that Sol-ark's battery management doesnt work well with the end-rate charging they natively come with. Its to the point where Rolls Batteries are close to not warranting their AGM/FLA batteries when used with the sol-ark systems because of the end-rate charging timing and voltages.
They have sorted out their own settings on the sol-ark for the rolls agms to overcome this issue but were initially hesitant as it requires closer monitoring by the end user due to the very real risk of damaging the agm batteries. Ive worked IT/Cyber Security for 20 years and i'm very technical compared to standard clients so they were less concerned with it and have 6 setups using the Adjusted settings and the batteries are lasting, where as the non-custom settings we under charging them leading to a early end of life for the AGM batteries.
I was wondering if anyone here is using the sol-arks with FLA/AGM batteries and what their experience has been.
